i think white artists who make music that "typically" appeals to white people (pop,country) tend to sell more just because of the economic balance between the races.Black people are still among the poorest race groups in comparison to white people.So white people will tend to have a lot more left to buy music than black people do.So i guess i can understand why they are seen as the music buyers.

on the one hand i can say its harder for a black artist to sell but still i think its how pop your music is thats the deciding factor.There are some white artist who don't really become successful(some of them even with music that's considered to be of high quality and acclaimed).It just always comes down to how "pop" your music is and whether it can appeal to the masses i guess.

At the end of the day, it's all about trends in music and pop culture.
From the early 2000s until about 2006, R&B/Hip-Hop was huge! Black artists were everywhere and were being celebrated for their music.

Now we're in the 2010s, and Hip-Hop/R&B is not as huge as it used to be.
Naturally, the artists who primarily make that music will not be as successful.

You may have people like Adele, Miley Cyrus and Eminem, who are extremely successful.
It's all about the way they market themselves though.

Black artists have the same opportunity as white artists.

In terms of radio formats that cater almost exclusively to them,

Black artists have: Urban, Rhythmic, Urban AC.

Pop artist have: HAC, AC, Country, Triple A, Rock, Alternative

Top 40 Pop (the biggest format) is the melting pot but it tends to skew towards white artists.

I was about to say yes they do but I took a second to think.

Producing their music, getting the same chances I think its open minded and fair. Most people in the music industry love the whole 'artsy, open minded' thing but from a consumer stand point I have to say maybe it can be a bit biased but it would have to be for a certain situation. For example if was a lil wayne rapping the lyrics robin thicke did, do you really think it would have sold as well?

All the evidence that you used in your posts contradicts your point. Black artists were everywhere in the early 2000s because hip hop/R&B and other "black" music was popular back then and most of the artists who made this type of music were black and still are. Nowadays urban music isn't as popular, but the few artists that are successful with it are not black (Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Adele, Eminem, Robin Thicke, Bruno Mars) even though most of the artists who still make the same type of music are black.
