They chose Applause as the lead single because they have some strategy... Only that can explain the fact that Applause almost did not make the cut (Gaga said It In a radio Interview I think) and then suddenly It became the Lead single And clearly Sexxx Dreams > Applause ... I have this feeling that they did not want big start at all.. let's see how will Venus sound and how It will do on the charts

Well to be fair, she needs the second single to coincide with the album release and if she waited any longer, odds are the second single is going to get lost in the Christmas Freeze/End of Year playlists.

And if she waited until the first of the year for a second single, it'd be a mistake.

I'd expect 4 singles, maybe 5 at the most.
