She should release promotional singles so more people will pre-order the album.
A promo single could work but there is also a could it can completely backfire on Applause. It will create some buzz but it can also kill what ever momentum Applause has left.
I don't think that releasing promo singles is a good idea. Remember what happened with Edge of glory and its video (I loved it but I have to be honest: everything about it was a mess).
