But the water type is overrated and overpowered.

Overrated, I agree. But I'd say Fire is more overpowered

OMG This so much!!!! GF seems to have a vendetta against the Ghosts, they have no powerful moves and most of them don't have good overall base stats.
Mismagius, Bannete, Golurk, Dusknoir (was done so wrong), Drifblim, Spiritomb etc. It's like they are like Dragons in rarity, with the exception of everything that makes dragons stand out so much. So unfair.
The offensive buff is a start I guess.

Fire is overpowered offensively, definitely not defensively, which really is a shame, but I don't really care for them for the most part so w/e. 
I'd say Fairies are off to a good start because of Swirlix, Sylveon, Xerneas and Flabébé.

And they're always just that- ghosts. No cool typing, except for Honedge and Chandelure so far.

I forgot to list Rotom also, another great Pokemon with amazing potential that got wasted.
There are good type combos though, like the ones you mentioned + Jellicent and Golurk (if he wasn't so crappy on practice). I personally never cared for the Dark/Ghosts, idk they don't look like Ghosts to me for some reason. 
But Gen 5 was an improvement on that, and Gen 6 is off to a nice start with Honedge and (possibly) Oorotto. I just hope the base stats aren't a mess. And I'm waiting for that MegaMismagius and MegaBannete.
