Erotica/BS had abysmal sales (though they look better now thanks to catalogue sales), especially for albums released during the 90s. The only thing Madonna had that Britney doesn't is a diamond greatest hits collection in her first 15 years, granted Britney got a second diamond studio album instead.

I never said "at this point in her life"-- it wouldn't make sense. You're the one that added an age stipulation to compare their accomplishments. It's only logical that Britney accomplished more at a younger age than Madonna. Madonna didn't release her debut until she was 25 (and I'm sure you knew that).

Obviously. That's why I highlighted what I said. While Madonna accomplished a lot, this notion that she did so much more than Britney has at the same point is laughable. Even when you include them both being at the 15 year mark in their career, Madonna still hasn't accomplished that much more (or even more in general). Her career is a testament to longevity whereas Britney's career has been a testament to phenomena. While I would agree that Britney will not accomplish what Madonna has by the time she's 30 years in to her career as Madonna has done in the 30 years she's been out judging from Britney's lack of promotional activites which translates in to slower catalogue sales, there's no denying that Britney dwarfed Madonna in the first 15.

And I hope Britney never has an album as truly terrible as LAP. While the song is good and clearly better than "Work Bitch," I think Britney still has a couple records left in her before she starts releasing full-length records as tired as LAP.

LMAO @ the Gaga stans perched in this thread. You want to compare points in their careers? When Madonna and Britney were 5 years into their careers they were the biggest POP artist at that time and released an innovative song (LAP for Madge and Toxic for Britney) while Gaga is the #5 biggest pop artist and releases a generic clapping song. Madonna herself said that Britney reminded her of her when she was younger, and even prefers Britney over Gaga.

Britney will never come close to Madonna or Janet, but she is the best choice out of all the pop artists debuting after her.

Britney could never release a album critically acclaimed album like Like A Prayer. She's not nearly as intelligent and she has the emotional range of a teaspoon thanks to all the meds she's on so don't worry about that.
