When it's something being permanently etched onto your body, like, say A BUTTERFLY ON YOUR STOMACH, then yes, basic is better *not sarcasm*

No shade, but what have any of the other boys done that can be considered even remotely iconic?
I mean I even went as low as to hope that Liam would date Miley because I wanted him to be known more by the gp.
But hey, at least his popular with the gays

What has Harry done that's even remotely iconic? Besides Taylor Swift, of course

Did you not just admit above that his butterfly tattoo is iconic?
But besides those two things, he's the icon of 1D. When the gp think 1D, they think Harry. In the words of Becky G " Everybody knows Harry"
And his look is by far the most distinctive, his hair is iconic, and why is he the only member who has been nominated for solo awards at both the TCAs and EMAs?

The delusion
Even before Haylor, Harry was the most popular/known member

What delusion?
It's a fact I had no idea harry existed back in 2010 in their XF days. Only Zayn kept popping up on the internet from time to time. Then when they made it big in the US in early 2012 was when I finally started seeing harry at Walmart/Target, etc.
harry's lucky he's the youngest. These acts' targeted audiences always eat up the youngest members e.i. JT, Nick Carter, Perrie Edwards. So this doesnt make him special in any way.
If we go by your "basic" logic then harry is as basic as can be. He's the entry level to the 1D fandom. The other boys are higher levels on this 1D package. harry's like the cover of a tabloid magazine. The cover hooks ppl in but it's what's inside that keeps people reading. Or else how would you explain me not ever paying dust to 1D before I even knew Liam existed?

I said it was iconic in the worst way possible. It's infamous, up there with Mike Tyson's face tattoo
Quoting BECKY G of all people? Really? I'm not even going to comment on that because
He can keep his 'prestigious' Teen Choice Awards He only won because he's a member of 1D!

Well, I wasn't a fan till late 2011, so I wouldn't know. But even when I watch their old interviews, Harry is always the one the interviewer paid most attention too. And I see a lot of old articles about Harry.
It has nothing to do with age. Harry has the most star power of the group like JT, Perrie, and Nick.
Then why exactly would they be capitalizing on Harry the most like that? There is obviously something special about him that the other boys don't have if they use Harry to hook people in. And obviouslythey stay because Harry has the most twitter followers and the most stans outside of. Atrl. But what does this really have to do with being iconic? I haven't seen one single arguement about why Liam or any of the other boys are iconic?

It's still iconic sis, so that's all that really matters.
My point was that Becky G was just saying what everybody else is thinking.
Ignore the EMA I see

Again, cos harry is the entry level. He's the face of the band but is in no way the band's substance, let alone essence.
MTE, interviewers no little to nothing about who they're interviewing. So they go by who's being shoved down ppl's throats.
If we base this discussion on twitter followers then Niall would sure be the face of the group had he been born a few months later. I know nobody around my age who stans for harry. People I know stan Zayn or Lou. If we're speaking star power then Zayn's the one who's got the most, if any. It's all about marketing and what the GP is more likely to blindly eat up so their PR chose harry since he's the youngest and more relatable one, a.k.a. a none-factor/normal average Joe.
And that's because I am only addressing the "basic" side of this discussion and because nobody in 1D has done anything iconic at all. The only semi memorable thing they have under their belt is Zayn's blond streak.

The Haylor thing isnt even that memorable outside of this forum. IRL nobody remembers, nor gives a crap. If anything it only aided her sales for I Knew You Were Trouble, lol.

Whatever helps you sleep at night Even most of the Twitter Directioners dislike his butterfly tattoo. But I see the delusion is real with the Harry stans in this Base.
Too bad nobody EVER listens to Becky G
The EMAs are less important than the VMAs, and the VMAs aren't very important to begin with. But he'll probably win because he's Harry from One Direction. Just like how "Best Song Ever" won Song Of The Summer because it's a 1D song, even though it clearly should have gone to "Blurred Lines".
