Sky defends Justin Bieber, Cara Delevigne, and talks music career


In an interview with Spin, Sky Ferreira answered some questions including ones about modeling, film, and music. She also defended some artists out there today such as Justin Bieber and newly model turned singer Cara Delevigne.

With Sky Ferreira. So tell us Sky what made you want to sing?
I knew I wanted to sing before I even started modeling. I was raised around music all the time. Growing up around Michael was a huge inspiration for me to pursue a music career along side the other things I like to pursue.

So if you had to choose out of modeling, acting, or singing. Which do you think you'd pursue?
Music. I love acting and modeling but there's something about music that's so much more natural than the other two. I've done all three for years now that it's natural but music makes me feel such a euphoric feeling that the other two can wish they could only come close.

Overexposed artists like Justin Bieber and recently model Cara Delevigne, who really has no talent, have began acting careers. Do you think you'll do movies too? Major ones.
Justin is a talented artist so I can't really agree with the fact you think he is overexposed. I'm sure all the success he's had is deserved. He's made mistakes, all of us do. As for Cara, she loves what she does so I think you should just let her be her. To answer your question, it won't be anytime soon. I need to focus on my music career first and maybe after I'll go in to the whole film thing. I need to work on my craft first.

We were able to hear Teen Queen before this interview and it was pretty odd coming from you. Tell us about your goals for the song.
The goal when I was writing and recording it was to just make a good fun catchy indie-pop song. And if you could tell and share the same opinion as me, I did just that.

Will the whole album be like Teen Queen?
Teen Queen is kind of the wildcard of the album. Everything else is really cohesive and variating but Teen Queen is definitely the most off and perplex song on the record.
