SKY FERREIRA VISITS BBC 1XTRA
Live on the BBC 1xtra channel this evening was Indie-pop artist Sky Ferreira. She sat down with a radio DJ to talk about her latest release, Sky Ferreira: The Unreleased Collection, and her new single 'Teen Queen' and brand new debut album both in which are to be released soon. The interview lasted about ten minutes and Ferreira gave an acoustic on air performance of 'Animal', a song off Ferreira's compilation album of demos and unreleased songs recorded throughout her lengthy career.

Sky Ferreira is here! How are you Sky? You look pretty good considering it's pretty early in the day.
Thanks man. I'm good a bit nervous but I'm good.
There's no need to be nervous. Your released a compilation album of all your unreleased songs. What made you just say hey I want to release an album of all the material I won't use?
It wasn't really like that. I had met with my label, Tigerlily Recordings, and we were talking about how the writing, producing, and recordings for my album would go. Things like when it would release and such. I believe the head of my label mentioned some of my old demos and then we ended up buying the rights to them from my former label.
Interesting. You said at your concert at the El Rey Theatre that you were going to put some demos on the debut album. Why not just add another unheard track there instead?
I've recorded so many songs and some of them have been pretty **** you know? But there were little pieces of gold out of the coal of demos I recorded. So I put them on the album after I made some changes. I recorded some iffy new material too I wasn't all that sure about. That got cut.
Teen Queen has been pretty hyped up so far. Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and more are all ready for the single. What can we expect from it?
It's a very gritty track. It's really in your face. It's pop rock with some indie influences in there. It's insanely catchy and it's just very tongue in cheek. I suck at describing things so when it comes out you'll hear it.
You're posing for Playboy. How did that come about and you know is it really kind of weird for you?
I was in the booth in New York City with Greg Kurstin and I got the call. They offered me it and were like you'll be completely topless, would you be comfortable with that? I said yes and it just happened. I'd done shoots like this before so I really wasn't worried about it.
Have you seen the cover for it?
I did. It's a very beautiful but classy cover. Playboy is really all about that. It's a bit vulgar but it has that hint of class to it.
On the album some information got out that you worked with Example and Cara Delevigne. Those are true right?
Yeah we worked on some pretty amazing tracks that I'm extremely proud of. The Cara one is very spunky and rock 'n' roll. One of my favorites.
How do you feel about her dating Harry Styles?
Her taste is entirely different than mine because we are two completely different people. I went through a phase like that too but I'm happy for her. If she's content there's no reason I shouldn't be.
To close up this segment of the show we're going to let you sing for us. What will you sing for us?
I'm singing American Dream.
Sky performed the acoustic version of a song that'll appear on her studio album called 'American Dream'. Nerves caused her vocals to be a bit shaky at the start but she sounded outstanding on the remainder of the song. After the show she was seen heading to a London recording studio down the street.

New Song, "High", Uploaded to Paige's Official Website
Announced as a "teaser" for more upcoming material for her (And as hype for her upcoming single, "Celebrate"), Paige Elliot has uploaded a new song, named "High", to her official website.
The song, which is 3:40 in length, features a low, yet clubbing, beat, with several "wub" sounds every now and then. Paige sings over the beat, which absolutely erupts during the chorus, in a low, almost longing, voice, comparing her everlasting love for a man that left her to the high of a drug, such as heroin. The song begins with low, muffled drums and the occasional "wub" as Paige immediately begins singing. A steady bass line, bouncing up and down in the muffled drums, continues under her voice as the first verse goes on ("Withdrawal starts to kick in / Now what am I supposed to do?"). As the verse advances, the drums and bass begin to get less muffled, becoming more clear in the song until the pre-chorus begins, where police sirens and a simple, muffled kick drum are heard under Paige's voice where she demands someone call the doctor or police ("Call the doctor, call the doctor / I think I'm dying again"). The song erupts in the chorus, with the drums and bass absolutely clear, with the drums pounding away and the bass rumbling low as Paige sings more ("This love runs through my veins / Stronger than heroin"). The song returns to the muffled sound for the second verse ("But now that you're gone, I'm better than ever / I think I can manage on my own") . In the second pre-chorus, the police sirens are the only instrumental with the same lyrics. The song erupts once again in the second chorus, with the drums even heavier and the claps echoing after their note. Added to the rumbling bass is a high, bouncing melody that compliments Paige's vocals before the song dies down into the third verse, which consists of Paige's singing again, almost regretting her "high" ("It's only the crash that brings me down") and the muffled drums and a low guitar that slowly grow and become less muffled through the duration of the verse until the song erupts into the final chorus, where more lyrics are added. The drums, bass, high melody are all incredible, perfectly matching to Paige's voice as she sings passionately to the lyrics unlike the previous two choruses ("Don't let me crash / Don't let me down / Don't let me fall / Don't let me drown"). A clap builds behind her voice steadily for the last half of the chorus until the final line is sung over silence ("I think I'm high again").

There's multiple types of photoshop, though. Like, I use Photoshop CS5. Try using CS3
