'Applause' has never been on power rotation on KIIS.
It was on a "semi-PR." They played it for what could be considered a bare minimum for Power Rotation. So they probably had it on a playing rate of whatever is right below PR. Like A List, B List, C List, etc.
Or do they only have those rankings on UK radio? Eh, something to look into I guess

Semi-PR? Obviously radio has slowly embraced 'Applause' and KIIS did as well. It's racing towards 100 million audience impressions, which can be considered a moderate radio hit. There's nothing more to it.
Well the good news about Applause is that amp 97.1 one of the biggest stations put it on semi power rotation as I can see.. They spin it every 2 h so far today while for so many weeks they spun it every 3-3.5 h. This station is the 4th biggest i think right? Z100 and 92.3 now still have it on power rotation so the song has still legs. Where will it be its peak? Top 5 or top 3 on pop? What do you think?
P.S. 103.5 kiss chicago (one of the biggest stations) put it on power rotation also yesterday

If you check her audience compared to her spins it is pretty good. If more stations start playing it cause of that then it could be a radio smash. I like the fact that some ppl here claim it is payola but if you check her spins they indicate that stations don't jump like crazy into it. That's why its one of the slowest Gaga songs to rise on radio since her "hey day".

It's honestly better for Applause to have a slow and steady climb, and then get put on power across all stations after Roar has peaked, because obviously the latter is set to be perched at #1 for at least another month (I give it around 5-6 more weeks), effectively blocking Safe & Sound (which has already peaked), Summertime Sadness, Wake Me Up, Royals, and Holy Grail.

Basically I'd just say it's just the minimum of what would be considered Power Rotation, compared to the massive on-the-hour spins that songs like Blurred Lines and Roar have gotten.

Possibly not. The person I've been talking to that says it was is a dubious source anyway, but whatevs. I think it's more possible that KIIS was just being generous due to her going on air for an interview and all, seeing as they played it only like... twice the day before that.
