I am glad labels (or maybe it is just this one label? lol) are realizing that EPs are the best way to go with acts like Karmin and Fifth Harmony. They will spark interest that these acts need otherwise they will end up barely selling any albums.
It does suck for artists though... putting out an EP (brief) instead of an album (longer). I think Karmin would be better off as independent artists. Idk tho lemme stop acting like I know everything.

If a label like Epic Records an't afford to put out an album (the basis behind how a record label makes money) there are bigger problems to solve.
This label needs to fold like Arista. A new era is needed with the Epic artists, and LA isn't helping.

Some of you guys are trying it. Brokenhearted, even in the US, hit the top 30 or something and was a decent-sized hit. Acapella doesn't have a great peak but has been soaring around the top 70 or so for a long time and I believe its hit gold by now. As for the quality of their music, that's your opinion but everything they've released so far is extremely solid and people are loving them, even those that aren't really rap fans (not saying they're classified as rap, though,) or don't even know of them.

No amount of promo can save a song if the song itself isn't reactive on radio.

OMG they DRAGGED LA Reid at 35:30

We don't know what the next single is, that's what's holding up the album. LA Reid ughh, isn't sure what the next single is right now, so LA Reid is stopping the whole process so we're still working that out. It's between three or four songs, and timing is tough too.

L.A. is gonna drop them soon. He already has too many underperforming artists to handle.

And yet the professionals won't give them a release date.

I am not saying the label cannot afford to put out an album, but there comes a time when you can't make a profit from an artist. A profit is revenue minus expenses. Say Karmin spent a lot of time in the studio, used quite a few producers, songwriters, travel expenses, etc. It all adds up to the cost of making the product (the album)... And revenue is what is made by an album which may or may not be enough to be considered a profit (aka a loss).
And when your label is full of losses, you have to fold.

I am not even a hater or "pressed" over anything. I shared what I thought about the situation lol. They do have a couple bops, but an EP is the best route for them to take. If they blow up even more, they can put out an album... If they don't, they should try to get out of their contract and become independent artists where they would be able to make more money.

They literally can't afford ****. Their biggest selling Q1/Q2 album was Thriller. Sony will close Epic eventually, or at least fold it into RCA and retain the name for certain acts.

I guarantee Epic will fold in the next year or two, while transferring the following artists from Epic to RCA or smaller labels within RCA/Columbia (Avril Lavigne, Sara Barellies The Script, Cher Lloyd, Bonnie McKee, Ciara, Future, Paloma Faith, and maybe Fiona Apple). The other developing artists will be dropped.

And I am sure one of their reasons for being in this situation is the mismanagement money when it comes to artists, promotion, and budgets.

Bingo. They spend way too much on developing artists that have no future. You don't spend a **** ton on Cher Lloyd, when you have Avril Lavigne who has the same "bratty" image, has a solid fanbase, and guaranteed sales. They pay her dust.

Considering Acapella was supposed to be the "lead single" I fully understand why Epic isn't behind this completely.
Karmin should be lucky anyone at all wanted to pick them up. Their music is nothing special,
and quite frankly they're both pretty annoying and unnecessary for the industry.
Of course, I'm a semi-fan, I do enjoy their music, but I have to ignore them as people in order to like it
Epic has plenty of other problems / flop disasters to cope with at the moment.
Karmin can wait, and need to stop being disrespectful to their own label.

You're right, I would, because Avril is somewhat talented, has a legacy and isn't annoying
I loved Karmin with their debut. Acapella is lacking, though I did like it. That's just the way it is.
