What kind of explanation.....Her single didn't underperform. It peaked at #4 and has been in the top ten of iTunes and Billboard's Hot 100 for over a month. By some other pop girl's standards, that is great performance for any single whether it's a lead single or not.
I'm not being pretentious. She does have the best fans. She is the best. Nobody is putting on a show or selling out arenas (with Madonna as the exception who's had 30 years to rack up a loyal fan base while Gaga has had only FIVE) worldwide like Gaga is so.....shutup.
Of course people are going to find a reason to hate on Gaga by saying her fans are terrible and blah blah, when we ALL know an artist has no control over what their fans do and Gaga has already issued her disapproval of inappropriate behavior by fans.

They are the biggest fan base that receives the most attention. Twitter, Facebook, etc etc are not measurable for fan hood as they are interest. A good bit of my friends like Gaga on Facebook, but they don't like her as of present day. A better way is to see who is going to whose tour because that is more of an investment. I have liked several artists on Facebook, but I am not a devoted fan because I would never in my life pay to see them live or wait outside their current location for them to come outside. The people who do the latter are the monsters we are talking about.

But I think Gaga's fans receive the most attention because it is Gaga related. It is cool to hate her and anything attached to her. Her fans having a bad attitude makes it all the easier. Really they ask for it themselves

I think it's because Gaga Stans (the most vocal of them,that is) can sometimes be perceived as pretentious,catty music snobs who sometimes overestimate their fave while writing everyone else off as Generic, Bubblegum Pop tarts who are basically dummies that like to copy Gaga since they have no original bone in their body and act as if Gaga's **** don't stink.

Couple that with CONSTANT drama and the fact that little monsters can easily be trolled and you have people who are only casual listeners of Gaga going out of their way to **** with Monsters just for the hell of it.

But back to the whole fanbase size thing. Yeah I agree that concerts are a huge part of measuring an artists fanbase. It shows the dedication of the fanbase. I still believe it is important to see how artists are doing on social media sites to see just how large their fanbase is and of course single and album sales provide a lot of insight too.

yeah the only problem is most artist these days have fake likes and paid followers
so it's pretty inaccurate
