I'll say though, Xtina has a NATURAL ability at singing....
Beyoncé had to work really hard to get her voice to where it is.. Im not knocking that at all though...
If Xtina let her ego down and started taking vocal lessons.. She would really be the voice of this generation... Up there with Whitney And Mariah hands down
Lol Bey has a natural progression for a gifted singer. She had a natural ability to sing that's why her vocals were praised since the beginning. It's like saying Mariah's voice is what it is because she had to take intensive vocal lessons since she was 4 years old. Only 4 years old, the whole day long with her mother, comapred to that, Bey hasn't worked that hard. If you have a natural gift for piano, you become a skilled pianist with lessons. If you don't have it, even lessons can't help you.
Xtina took vocal lessons too, it just wasn't helpful. She doesn't even have an ear to know that she is ****ing up when she sings. And no, she wouldn't be, a beautiful voice doesn't make a great vocalist. Lessons don't make a good vocalist either. It only helps a good one.
Like explained in the OP, her problem is she doesn't sing with technique, she knows the techniue, she can do it in some of her studio songs (the proof she took lessons) but most of the time she ignores her boundaries and sings out of her range just to impress.
I love this part about what he said about Bey, this especially goes out to those who think she's a 'generic' singer.
Dynamics are another area in which Beyoncé demonstrates her considerable artistry, with the vocalist using them to compliment the instrumentation or particular mood (piano to forte in Naughty Girl live). She is also able to execute messa di voce (gradual crescendo and descrendo on a single sustained pitch) ('Dangerously in Love' live), a technique rarely heard outside of classical music.
I highly doubt that 'any black singer' has such masterful technique and knowledge.

None of them have it, at least to the extreme she does. And it just didn't happen in teh Survivor era after lessons, she was already naturally gifted and that's why she is...

And the fact that she can perform such feats without a struggle just kills me!!! She's so amazing.
He should have talked about Kelly or Leona as well when observing outstanding vocalists. Leona is one of the very few singers to have a four octave range and her vocals are better than Beyoncé's imo.
What a boring discussion. Beyoncé has been trained ever since she was a child, of course all the hard work and the continuos training have paid off. No one can deny she is a skilled vocalist, the same way no one can deny Christina is more naturally gifted than Beyoncé. Christina's harmonics work in a more beautiful way than Beyonce's, hence the better and prettier tone. She has misused her instrument her entire career causing damage to it. WIth proper education and training she would be miles above Beyoncé in vocal ability. She has a wider vocal range, even if it's not connected due to inexistent vocal training. However, that's just hypothetical. But that doesn't mean she is a terrible and hopeless singer, like you all like to say.
Oh, by the way. Absolutely death at that hive member saying vocal training wouldn't make Xtina better.
Ok but wtf is vocals to a pop girl then?!! If I was a pop girl and I had vocals that wont selling, I would not want them. I don't know why some people are in this thread having this idea ' oh she has big vocals...let me bow down and stan'.....

Having a nice tone doesn't make you a great vocalist, that seems to be the thing that Xtina apologists aren't getting. I don't know why people use Bey's training as a way to discredit her, how on earth is her having the work ethic and drive to become the masterful vocalist she is today even remotely a bad thing??
I agree -- I think Christina has one of the most beautiful natural voices I've ever heard; the problem lies with her technique. The person that did those vocal profiles of Mimi, Whitney and Bey did one for Christina, too. And well...
You can find it on his channel.

I agree with that. She has the most beautiful natural voice I think I've ever heard. If she had the drive to really and truly build upon what was already there and hone her raw talent in the way that Bey did, she possibly could have surpassed Whitney.

Where did I say having a great tone makes someone a great vocalist? And also, I never said Beyonce's dedication and hard work aren't good. But you are comparing an all-time trained vocalist to a never-trained one. Maybe you should re-read my post cause you didn't get a thing.
Yeah that's fine. Hard work goes in to make the music sound good and I'm here for it. I'd much rather have someone who know less about music, don't care about their integrity & probably have their labels make decisions for them then to make WTF music that people wont be here for. Like do what you can do and hope for the best. Don't try to hard to impress, Less is more sis.
Ladies and Gentlemen, a Rihanna fan.
And it's blasé don't-give-a-fuq "I just wanna twerk and fist pump to a generic pop beat, no matter how vapid the song is" attitudes like yours that is the reason why music is dying. Don't care about integrity...don't try to impress... Of course not. Why bother to practice, train, rehearse, or put for an effort to make a good product when you can just act a fool on Twitter and Instagram? That's what I want from a pop star. Someone who I could sing better than, but is better than me at online snapshots.
