Like I said before, I wouldn't say "of all time," but Beyonce is w/o question the most complete mainstream/commercial artist-performer who has emerged in the past 20 years. She's heads and tails better than virtually all of her peers and the people she is usually compared to. But to be fair, most of the acts she's compared to deserve to be gonged at a high school talent show (check the sig), but it's not Bey's fault the talent pool in commercial music is very shallow these days. Find her some real talent to go head to head with, and maybe we can reevaluate this...until then, yeah Bey wins.
Because she's not known for only that quality, like I said in the post you quoted.
Beyonce isn't labelled as the biggest ballad vocalist and I'm glad she isn't, people laugh about Mariah Carey's ballads. (All I Want For Christmas)
Not saying she isn't/wasn't a great vocalist, but when you talk about Mariah Carey, most people find her huge voice on her ballads kind of annoying. Talking about the GP.
Bitch please
How do people laugh at her ballads?
Number 1, All I Want For Christmas is not a ballad
Number 2,
All I Want For Christmas is top 10 on iTunes every year around Christmas and the song is 20 years old. The only person laughing is Mariah on the way to the bank cashing her royalty checks from a song that just won't die
I don't think her vocals are anything special, her voice is actually quite annoying. But she's pretty and can dance so I'll give her that
This is all your opinion though. Just like I could say I find Shakira's yelping style to be annoying, but it doesn't take away from whether she's able to hit the notes or not and has good vocal form.
Yes those singles were a succes but her singles are not iconic . (Only Crazy in Love & Singles ladies are).
None of the pop acts who debuted after 2000s has more than two iconic songs. The ones who are popular now (Katy, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Taylor) have zero iconic song, which makes Beyoncé better than the most.
No. She lacks the timeless music. She's one of the best performers in pop music though.
Michael is though. The voice, the songs, the videography, the choreography, the beauty (well, for a while), the costumes, the scandals, an intriguing story, the stans, the clones, the philanthropy, etc.
You are too focused on Beyoncé's vocals. Shakira's voice is underrated. She can hit huge notes and hold them for such a long time! She has a very versatile voice and you can see that when she sings in spanish and when she sings in english. I won't spend much time teaching you but for now:
You don't have to teach me, I think her voice is amazing. But her voice gets weaker while performing songs like Hips Don't Lie (one of my favorite songs all time from a pop girl), watch this VMA performance.
I don't know why "beauty" is included at all. Has nothing to do with how great of an artist someone is.
Anyway, for me it's between Shakira and Beyonce, but I just can't bring myself to stan for Beyonce and I don't think she'll ever go down as a Legend like Whitney, Mariah, Madonna, and Michael. Shakira might go down as one because there aren't that many Latina artists who have as much success as she does internationally and in the US, so she'll always have those breakthroughs in her belt.
I think the OP means ''the pop artist'', ''the popular recording artist''. Not the Mozart and Beethoven type of ''artist''. This didn't need an explanation.
''Artist'' is the general term for everyone who produces a piece of art, to begin with. Artist doesn't automatically mean ''musician, composer, songwriter etc.''

But Beyonce is already a legend. She's enjoyed a Diana Ross like career, going from iconic, hugely popular girl group to iconic, hugely popular solo career. Not only that, she's classy, well liked, and has married the biggest rapper out there. If you don't think she's a legend now, she will be. You generally are regarded more fondly as you age, and if she's this fondly regarded now, just imagine when she's 60 and shows up at The Grammys to perform with whatever pop girl grew up watching her videos and wanting to sing and dance as well as she was.
Liza? Sarah Vaughan? Whitney Houston? Patti Labelle? Gladys Knight? Elvis? Tina Turner? Sam Cooke?
The lists of legends who weren't songwriters go on and on.
That is the only excuse they can use. But it isn't even a good one. Especially when you point out all those LEGENDS who weren't songwriters. People are such jokes. Haters.
