Not to start this same damn conversation again but tbf to those Gaga draggers (), for a Lady Gaga lead single it has currently slightly underperformed. But that's not going to mean a lot if Applause ends up staying in the top 10 for a few months with some consistent sales.
+I'm getting the hint that the monsters brought it on themselves and people were more dragging the song and Gaga to get back at some of these pre-applause, cocky as **** Monsters.
Slightly underperformed with expectations that were obviously put on her (I predicted, uh, a lot... too much tbh), but it's a hit at this point. IMO it's better for her this way.

I was thinking about this earlier, and I agree. I predict the Artpop era to bring Gaga down to "normal" pop star levels which will hence lower expectations. And nothing's wrong with that; it's not like she can stay at that insane level of popularity she has had in the past few years for all her career.
Obviously, everyone discussing this is speaking prematurely but when people try and drag her and say that she is "in decline", I do agree with them to an extent.

Born This Way was already ''normal popstar levels'' though. She did P!nk, Rihanna, Bruno, Katy #s- 6M+.
Selling lower than that would be a bit worrying.
And obviously expecting The Fame #s now would be unreasonable.

I can't at people saying Applause is a hit. It MAJORLY underperformed for a first single for a pretty highly anticipated album. What's with the terribly low standards?
