Lana didn't have a big hit last year, and she also had the SNL backlash. If Lorde's album is a critical hit, and "Royals" really blows up in the next month or so, she will be the female nominee for BNA. I don't think the Grammys are too frightened to nominate one-hit wonders, and who's to say she won't get another hit? So many artists have surprised over the years.

Lorde will probably be on SNL in the fall, and it would be her big chance to get that last minute buzz. Think Adele in 2008/2009.

I'm a member in an Oscar forum and every year we make a prediction contest. It's even bigger than that, as we predict all the awards of the season.

Considering the Grammys don't have a precursor, is anybody up for a prediction contest? I'd make a thread solely for posting predictions. General Cathegories should rate higher and we'd obviously not predict the whole thing, just the most important stuff.

Yeezus severely lost its momentum. There probably won't be two hip hop albums in AOTY, and Macklemore is the more obvious choice.

According to Grammy rules, she would still be eligible. Ellie Goulding and Jonas Brothers are two artists who have submitted more than once to Best New Artist. But I feel like Lana is in Goulding's position - finally a hit but too much competition. A little too late. Her label may not even submit her again.

Why would they get tired of her? IKYWT was bigger than WANEGBT and I doubt her label will submit the album to country. Her label CEO called it "a big, pop record with some country leaning and we're not trying to hide that". It will most likely be submitted to pop. And besides, her album slays the rest of the possible nominees in the Pop album category, so I don't see why would they get tired of her.

Best Rap Album will be the best category at next year's Grammys. All SIX albums have an equal shot of being the Rap Album contender in AOTY.

Yeezus, Good Kid MaAd City, Nothing Was the Same, The Heist, Born Sinner, Magna Carter. if anyone is gonna being left out of this category it will be Kanye though. Hes had 0 hits from his latest effort.

They could easily ignore those. Especially with 20/20 representing an "urban" nom for AOTY.
