I can assure you, I have a much larger musical repertoire than you do, and a much higher understanding of vocal pedagogy. Me listening to Applause doesn't invalidate that, but okay

Madonna can't sing live. Even Rihanna's Stay SNL performance is better than anything she's ever done.

She can't really dance either but she's in great shape and can handle a dancefloor.

But she does have some good faux artsy ideas and set designs with like crosses burning in the back that are supposed to be meaningful but really aren't, and she does a good job of passing off things like masturbation onstage as self-liberation. It works because the visual presentation is strong and so is her presence.

I'm glad she finally lightened up after she split with Guy in 08. She was so not herself the years she was with him, and trying to be the picture-perfect wife/mother.

She did the mature music that wasnt dancefloor oriented, and had the stiff upper lipped English "Queen of the Manor"/ enlightened Kabbalist persona. I'm glad she snapped out of it, and is back to being fun now. Being a conformist was so not her.
