Not really. Michael only had 2 records out in the 80s and there was a 5 year break btwn both. Thriller overshadowed her first era but that wasnt her breakthrough anyway. Her big break was with LAV era in late 84/1985. She then ruled 1986 with True Blue. Whitney her debut in 85/86 was the only big competition she had. Cyndi was already over at this point and Janets Control era in 86 was great but had no impact outside the US.
