AKB got another 1M first day.
The 48 groups will never let SHINee get that #1 single. UMJ needs to give them a decent date, other groups already grabbed #1 weekly with waaaaay less sales than SHINee.

wait NMB came out the same week as AKB? Why would Aki-P do that? It would look better if he waited since AKB usually gets #1 for their first two weeks (3 if the song is a smash)...
I guess I should expand upon & share the disco influenced playlist/mix I've been making while this trend is still a thing though.
I really liked the After School song. Don't get me wrong. And I love that organic sounds are being used in pop; I think it's great. But you can already see everyone RUNNING to the trend and that means people are going to hear it so much that they're sick of it by the end of the year. It kind of makes it hard for producers, but even harder for listeners who just genuinely enjoy it. Like...I don't know, I think 2NE1 doing that might garner them a hit, but it would also be sort of like the last few lashes on a horse that's about to die (at which point lesser groups would easily beat the dead horse for a few months

)
also it's obviously harder to mix that stuff DJ wise, which is ironic since disco essentially birthed the profession of mixed DJing, but a lot of these songs have such oddly specific pacing...
