Poll: Is "Applause" only being dragged because it's Gaga?

View Poll Results: Is the stan world overreacting?

Of course - a #6 debut would not be dragged at all if this were Katy, Rihanna, etc.

Yes, but people are only living this up b/c monsters like to brag on Gaga (though all fans do this).

Not at all. #6 in week one is terrible, shameful, and career-ending. Lady Gaga is a flop.

people tend to expect big things from gaga because they are aware of the amount of talent she holds, and when she delivers something decent and not extraordinary people are usually disappointed

They still probably think that the GP are hibernating and still have not waken up yet since the release of Applause.

Taking my stan glasses off....I think Applause needed more understandable and relatable verses. First verse is fine but 2nd verse is completely off putting. However, its obvious the dragging it gets is not mostly from the quality of the song, but because of 1) dislike for gaga 2) competing stan bases 3) draggable receipts compared to roar. I think the reception of the song has been good, but if any artist underperforms on here then other stanbases will always take that chance to attack whether its the navy, hive, kats, monsters, etc.

Then why is it?
You were the ones who praised this to the high heavens and said it would debut with 500k
Now it did more than half of that, you're on defence mode
It's nobody else's fault but yours

That's ludicrous and sad for a chart to make you change your opinion on a song. I think a lot of the people who are doing that use the charts as a crutch. And the first promo picture of ARTPOP still slays and shows that she's coming for weaves CHARTS or not.
Stefani Joanne Angeline Germanotta slays, whether it be slaying the charts, the club, or slaying herself. Y'all will deal.

But "her power" was the comment of choice when BTW debuted with a million sales figures, we can't start going back on our words now because the situation is different. Its always estimated that any debut single from a very popular artist will do well. Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, etc. have all experienced this when their first singles from their new era is released. Again, that was the expectations that her fans had, and when they were going around throwing huge sales numbers and it didn't meet the expectations, its under-performing.
I thought "Applause" was pretty safe when it leaked, and its charting position has nothing to do with it. The general response to the song was "safe" and "generic" when it first leaked, and that was before it charted.

It's so hypocritical how they're expecting us to treat Gaga like any other artist now that she's not doing so well.
She debuted at #6 with her lead single after a lot of hype not only by her fans but also Gaga herself, a radio deal, a televised music video premiere and a confirmation of a performance at the VMAs. Not to mention she's coming from a string of three #1 albums all of which had tons of multiplatinum singles and a sold out world tour.
It's a flop, deal with it.

Generalizing a whole fanbase? I never said that.

No people expect big things from gaga because of the way she herself and the monsters overhypes her ass and that's the true tea

YES and NO
YES because Gaga herself and her stanbase are so arrogant
NO because for every pop girls, an underperforming single is a FLOP. The fact that it only hit #1 in Spain tho

Little Monsters brag about Gaga saying she's the best, and she better than our favs, so when Gaga doesn't do we, people love it because they have something over Little Monsters, Little Monster like calling other artist flop when their single's don't do well, but when Gaga doesn't do well they can't take it ! gaga is popular worldwide so she is suppose to do well, and when she doesn't every hears about it it's just how it goes
