Another way would be she went back to what she loves most and completely re-envisioned it. There are no songs that sound like Countdown, for example. No one has made a song like Love on Top in a long while and I can't think of any song with the octave changes in it like she did, End of Time is very unique, I Miss You and I Was Here both have very interesting vocal production. I could say something for the uniqueness of almost every song on 4.

There's no doubt she went to her comfort zone, but she didn't just record a DIL 2.0, it's more like R&B 2.0.

And the thing is, Beyoncé changes her voice on these records too. Like, most of her songs are funk and R&B influenced, so she uses her actual live voice on a lot of these studio recordings, but when she does a song like Sweet Dreams or Naughty Girl she changes her voice and makes it a bit softer. Or how about those operatic High C's on I Been On. Or her hard hitting voice on Diva, compared to the softer tone in Speechless. Truly versatile.

This is the bottom line. Beyonce mainly does rnb and hiphop (though most of them are poppy). She shouldn't be compared to Rihanna because she doesn't try to present her other various genre to the public (bar the soundtracks of er movies) while Rihanna has done it multiple times, switching from one genre to another. So in a GP standpoint (this is just an assumption btw), Rihanna is more diverse than Bey regardless if you believe in her artistry or not. This should end the comparisons.

Rihanna actually crosses between genres though. I honestly can't believe someone wrote that Baby Boy was reggae. Baby Boy is a R&B song with Sean Paul on it and that's it. Man Down is reggae. And this is what I mean when I say Beyonce mainly does R&B with a sprinkle of different elements every now and then, (funk, soul, jazz etc.) but it's still an R&B song. Her music doesn't cross genres the same way Rihanna's does.
