Definitely. It's like Unapologetic (and she) stopped EXISTING the second one of its singles flopped.
But she always bounces back with another hit single so it's all good.

ttt had wfl which was big from september-december and whyb which had its time from may-july. ydo was overshadowed by how huge wfl was and it also was not greatly pushed, ttt was barely pushed at all, and birthday cake was successful exclusively on urban radio. the era was basically in limbo between december and may, and for that reason selling 3 million is anything BUT underwhelming.
unapologetic was on track to sell in the 4-5 million range if compared to the sales trajectories of gggb and loud, but because promotion was completely cut off for the album after february and right now did not even receive so much as a video, its sales were completely stunted at just over 3 million.
what you're doing is saying a hit is a hit is a hit is a hit, and it is NOT that way
gggb and loud had way more/bigger hits than ttt and unapologetic and DUH, they sold more. they also were more promoted and were better-handled, which factors into that being the case.
and if you look at ANY other popstar, you'd see the same thing.

I'm very educated on the fact that she is a single- driven artist more so than anyone big artist out. Her numbers are underwhelming not matter how you want to flip it. She has to release 10x more just to match or outsell most artists. She found out what works for her, cool.

The person could have specified to younger pop acts like the ones you listed but yes, Celine is a pop artist.
What is she then? A rock artist? An R&B artist? Soul artist? She makes AC and Pop music and is pop artist like Adele.

But her #'s are still dismal for the amount of smash hits she has, even if she hasn't promoted since Febuary which was a big opportunity with the grammy awards. She should easily be pushing into the 4-5 million range

Why are you so angry?
Calm yourself, sis. I've already explained myself and won't do it again.
Nice day, sweetie.

I don't care how you start it's how you finish at the end of the day. If she's such a huge global pop star with all these worldwide smashes. She should be easily pushing 4 - 5 million easy like I said again her #'s could be better. I'm not gonna fight with you in this thread, and you need to chill down a bit.

the expectations for rihanna are too damn high with other stanbases
with ttt and unapologetic each, she got 2 big pop hits ww and 1 urban radio hit each as well
both eras were also horribly-handled and went months without promotion, and also had singles that were pushed to radio without videos or performances to accompany them
yet somehow she's supposed to push 4-5 million easy
NO OTHER GIRL would be expected to do that in the same situation
but she's rihanna so she has to be on some other level
the ******** lol

There are no high expectations for rihanna like I said again if she is such a global force and the GP is so here for her. Her #'s would be higher. You mean to tell me all them #1 songs constantly getting spins from different formats, her dominance in social media & the well known facts for her to release every year. And despite all this can't top 4 million that's what i'm trying to express and others who share my sentiment.

lol others sharing your sentiment does not make you right
rihanna's eras need to be taken relatively as they are for every other artist
if you do that from an unbiased lens you'll see that she's doing damn fine
the double standards have to stop

People need to stop confusing single Driven artist with the ATRL exclusive term singles artist. All bill said was that rihanna was more motivated by having hit singles. She also sells albums. She goes. Platinum every year with every release. Also her sales would be better if she didn't release so often. Can you imagine being a casual fan at a music store and seeing all these Rihanna albums and having no clue which one was her most recent? Anyway a lot of people came in here to find shade in something that wasn't meant to be shady at all. But get your kiis because at the end of the day Rihanna is one of the biggest pop star on the planet right now.

She definetely is. I mean, she hasn't had an era WITHOUT a number one ever since gggb. I mean, the day she cannot pull that number one off, I really believe she won't be able to sell. I mean, it's not a bad thing whatsoever. She just relies so heavily on singles that is now in a situation where she NEEDS to deliver a chart topper. I wonder how a Rihanna album would sell, should she NOT release a successful lead single...
