Please tell me a song by Beyonce that challenges the listener? I mean, I guess you can say that about some Gaga's songs(challanging the listener only lyrically, songs like Bloody Mary or Applause). But how is a Beyonce's song challenging, well, I really can't figure it out.

Rihanna and Katy appeal more to the public cause the people can relate more to them and to their songs. That doesn't mean that they don't have quality music.

And as a response to the last part, generic music doesn't directly mean the music is bad, it just means it is easy to swallow because it is trendy However, I do think Katy makes bad music (for the most part)

Okay. I'm not sure if you understand the word artistic. According to the dictionary, artistic means you show imaginative skill in arrangement or execution. Since music is her art, the sounds and the vocals are where she will be seen to be artistic.

Beyonce often pushes her vocals to a place that you wouldn't expect (for example, Deja Vu's frantic vocals are certainly not pop music standard). And it should be noted that she is her own vocal arranger. An example of her imaginative execution: layering her vocals in the studio putting the emphasis on soft, almost monotonous vocals and having the emotional, powerful, full force vocals go to the background to create a dual auditory effect (I Miss You, I Was Here). There are also tons of live examples where she does specific runs or skillful vocal techniques that not many other pop stars do.

I understand the success of Rihanna, I like her a lot, but Katy Perry for me is unhearable. I can't get why is she so popular in the english speaking countries.

Because Rihanna is an icon with appeal to every age and gender and person, and Katy is also the same way. They also seem more down to Earth, although Gaga and Bey are very down to earth if you watch their interviews but the GP doesn't see that.

They are often easier to digest in both sound and image. That's not a bad thing, it's just a thing.

They prefer their singles at times. But they prefer Beyoncé and Gaga's albums, tours, and they respect Beyoncé and Gaga more, hence why they have bigger star power.
