Interesting question. I don't think it's as pinned as King / Queen of pop is for Michael and Madonna and Britney has certainly grown up and perhaps doesn't feel like the Princess of Pop any longer. However none of the new girls deserve the title. The reason Britney had this title in the first place is because the top tier of pop girls belonged to her alone. It was never a question that it went Britney, Christina, Jessica, Mandy, etc., whereas today you could debate about who is the top pop girl for hours and not come up with a real answer.

Regardless, no matter what her title is, she will never be forgotten. Her boundary defying contribution to the landscape of Pop music will always be priceless.

Yeah but country music that were smashes then have mature themes. Different styles for different eras. She would flop. Probably sell a mere 3-4 Million per album but it wouldn't be near Britney's sales or Shania's. Plus, Shania was one of the most successful country singers worldwide and her music is generally praised. Taylor's is cute but it wouldn't work in the 90s.

1. You can sell 5 million of each album, but it can't be worldwide when 4,5 million comes from the US.
2. She can be a stadium act in the US, I would love to see her coming to South America and find out if she can sell out a single date.
3. Most of her songs from Speak Now didn't smash in any format besides Country, "22" flopped.

Britney was named The princess of pop when BOMT Was released. No one comes close to her impact for the first 5 years of her career. Grammy can't help artists sell their album. Some legends don't even have a Grammy. Touring was not as big as it is now. So???
