This trinity is a highlight due to its' use of underdog inspirational anthems - ones you might not think of straightaway. It covers three legends and their varied music styles, messages and topics. The waters are tested on all types of uplifting: a personal one, a universal one, and a love-infused one. The three songs together formulate a motivational aura from three different and beautiful directions.

LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS
For some reason, it was patriotism that came to mind at first when I read about the theme. The Declaration of Independence says that we have three unalienable rights and naturally I have chosen 3 anthems that represent these rights, all while inspiring people to live them out when they feel they have been stripped of them.
| LIFE: A woman who has done more inspirational anthems than probably anyone out there, Cher's latest hit "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" is about getting back up again after life kicks you in the ass. Delivering a powerful vocal performance, Cher not only uplifts the listener by sharing her pain at her lowest but also shares how she picked herself up and came back stronger. It's an anthem that we can all relate to and look to when life gets the best of us. | |
| LIBERTY: Lady Gaga gives us an anthem on hair, which metaphorically represents being a wild, rebellious child who just wants to be free. Hair is about liberation and as immature as the lyrics may be, it inspires one to let loose and show your true colors, not giving a single damn what anyone else thinks. Going back to my teenage years, I remember being afraid to be myself and even though I wish I had this song to inspire me earlier on, I eventually grew comfortable with myself and I can only hope "Hair" helps others let their hair down. | |
| PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS: Our last unalienable right is the pursuit of happiness and nothing screams that more than "shine bright like a diamond". An unlikely empowerment anthem, Diamonds represents how surreal and beautiful love is but I interpret the song as someone searching for happiness. I imagine Rihanna is singing to me, inspiring me to find the beauty in myself so that I can live life to the fullest. | |

Much like the prior entry in the Golden Trinity, this trinity is special because of its' thematic nature of Pop anthems, and the women involved in it. These songs encompass considerably remarkable work from three long-time-legends, and they all cover different inspirational topics. What stands out here is the experimental nature of the songs, especially with Madonna's "Human Nature", a valuable gem to empowerment.

This trinity, different from the previous two, covers a few genres and three artists with very different agendas. Beginning with Kelly Clarkson, whose entire story of fame is an inspiring one, moving on to Rock band Bon Jovi and rounding it out with a you-can-do-it, spread-your-wings type power ballad from vocal legend, Xtina. What makes this trinity what it is are the personal connections, however - the fact that these songs truly helped one get through difficult times, which is what any inspirational set should do.

Once upon a time, I would sit and stare out of my window as it rained, dreaming of what could be and if i'd end up happy. I was just 18, stuck in my small town, in a job I hated, watching everyone around me get on with their lives. I felt trapped, like my life was at a stand-still, it became so bad that my dreams would be better than my reality. Cue Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson. Like a flash I was inspired, I left my job, had countless arguments with my parents about the direction of my life. I could not take anymore. I hopped on a train, traveled 6 hours to the opposite end of the country and signed up for college, I was alone, in a place I did not know, but I was happy, I was pursuing my dreams. I broke away.

There are times in my life when I worry, am I doing the right thing, did I make the right choices. I let people get inside of my head and I doubt myself, I lay awake at night with worry, unable to sleep, unable to enjoy myself. There are times when I just want to scream, it's now or never, i'm not gonna live forever, I need to seize the moment rather than worry. Cue It's My Life by Bon Jovi. This is an anthem, forget YOLO this is the original. Why waste so much time worrying and stressing about what you can not control, life is too precious and too short, don't let life pass you by. I live by the message of this song, be happy today and worry tomorrow, it's changed my life.

Everybody wants me to conform, why do you dress this way, why are you not settling down, move back home get a job and be normal. We start to look outside ourselves for acceptance and approval. Why must we care what other people think, they want us to live our lives to their standards but that's not being true to ourselves. I've been pushed and pulled too many times. Cue Soar by Christina Aguilera. We need to find our own paths, be the masters of our own destiny. We can never truly soar and live up to our great potential whilst trying to please others. I've learnt from this not to change myself, I live to make myself happy and create my own story.

It's not funny for us. It's something we want to forget because we have as little to do with it as everyone else who was not alive when it happened, but because of careless jokes like that we keep being associated with it and it's not freaking funny.
And I don't think being half German counts as an excuse or a justification for any jokes of that kind, you live in the States, and from what I've seen you identify as an American so obviously you would not be offended by a comment like that.

Yes, you are correct that it doesn't offend me at all, but putting myself in your shoes, I still don't think I'd be offended. Nazi Germany =/= Modern Day Germany, they are NOTHING alike and I wasn't making any digs at Germany as a country or Germans. I mean, it's clear you are no Nazi Nobody looks at Germans negatively like that, they are in no way associated with goings-on in WWII. I don't think you should be offended, and if you REALLY must be, I'm sorry for having offended you.
And if somebody WOULD associate Germany with what happened over 60 years ago under completely different rule and multiple generations ago, that would purely be ignorance and, well, stupidity.
