Yes, the world was waiting. But, again where did Beyonce say my single/album would come out in Jan/Feb? I mean Beyonce spoke about her HBO DOC , she release info on her tour. We all just assume it was going to work that way.

1- A certain website saying Bey scrapped her album without providing any receipts, and a magazine copying+pasting their article even after getting clocked by Diplo for mistaking his tweets.

2- Bey's label saying there was never a release date, and Bey is still working on her album.

I think it's very obvious which source is more reliable .. but people will only see what their eyes want to see.

Standing On the Sun was the only thing that sounded good from all the snippets released. Too bad she didn't at least release that for the summer. Can't say I'm surprised because reception was not good to Grown Woman and was polarizing and shocking (in a negative way) for Bow Down and I Been On.

Cas is right, there is no way Beyonce had all those campaigns and promo opportunities lined up just for the tour, especially when she would have been able to sell it out based on her name alone. There must have been some new music originally scheduled to be released but for some reason the label hadn't approved whatever she was going to release.
