Open and closing slots seem the best, but halfway through probably is the most effective performance slot for her.
They'll mention her return before/after every break ("Coming up we have Lady Gaga with a performance you won't want to miss"), which will obviously get people hyped as the show progresses. It allows for peak viewership and aids social media buzz (build them up, give them time to talk about it afterwards).
When you go first, you risk getting lost in the action. When you go last you're playing to less viewers when they're more bored/irritable and you risk getting lost in the rush to close/people tuning out and going to bed.
