The song came out eight years ago; I was only 9 years old Please forgive my 9-year-old self for not paying much attention to music outside of Kidz Bop and the Disney Channel

Maybe there WAS payola, except instead of getting radio stations to play the song, the payola was for them to do the opposite. #conspiracy

Just out of curiosity, what country do you live in?
I'm 16 and like you, just up to a few years ago, I paid no attention to pop music at all (I only listened to UK 'indie' bands and stuff), but We Belong Together was inescapable. I didn't even realise until a few weeks ago that I basically know most of the lyrics.

Right? It's not even a matter of age.
It wasn't as successful in my country and I still know the song.

Interesting how "Gone, Gone, Gone" will be stuck at #23 on pop for a while, similar to how "Home" was stuck at #23 for over a week.
It's a sign

The horrifying part is that I live in the US, where it's arguably one of the biggest hits of all time When I say that I didn't pay attention to music, I mean that my mom monitored basically everything I listened to. She listened to 80s music and country, and that's virtually all I knew
I'm sure that I've heard it before, but I meant that yesterday was the first time I consciously decided to listen to the song, knowing what it was.

It doesn't get much hotter than this as Interscope Geffen A&M President of Promotion Brenda Romano and her IGA Team are on-fire at all formats! IGA has three of the Top 4 songs on the Top 40 Chart and five songs in the Top 10: #1-Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines," #3-Imagine Dragons "Radioactive," #4-Zedd f/Foxes "Clarity," #9-Maroon 5 "Love Somebody" and #10-Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding "I Need Your Love," a project co-worked with Columbia Records.
At HOT AC, IGA has four of the Top 6 songs: #1-Maroon 5 "Love Somebody," #2-Imagine Dragons "Radioactive," #4-Phillip Phillips "Gone Gone Gone" and #6-Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines." At Alternative, IGA has two of the Top 5 songs: #1-Imagine Dragons "Demons" and #5-Imagine Dragons "Radioactive." which spent 14 weeks at #1! At AAA: #2-Frank Turner "Recovery." At Rhythmic Top 40: #1-Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines" and Urban: two in the Top 10 with #6-Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines" and Kendrick Lamar "Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe" (which peaked at #1).
Also of note is that Robin Thicke broke his own record for Most Combined Format Audience of all time which is now at 216 Million! Congrats to Brenda and her team leaders at Top 40: Chris Lopes, Mark Neiter and Greg Marella. Jeff Stacey at Alternative, Mike Justin at Hot AC, James Evans at AAA, Nino Cuccinello at Rhythmic Top 40 and Larry Kahn at Urban.

The audience record on Mediabase's published panel (the one and only that counts in the industry along with the BDS/Nielsen numbers) has already been broken days ago. The news is all over radio industry websites like allaccess.com and fmbq.com and everyone subscribed to Mediabase has received the Breaking News. Blurred Lines is the only song ever to go over 200. Why no one cares in here? If it was a female all members would have freaked out right now.

Because to most people in here, we still consider the highest peak being Mariah's 256M for WBT. The real celebration will happen then, or when we see it pass the Nielsen BDS number of 212M.
