haha, i was also wondering about the 212 figure as it clearly reached 223 on BDS back in 2005. 223m is the correct figure and Robin Thicke needed another 44m impressions through BDS monitored stations as of last week to tie her.. In order to break Mariah's record on BDS, Robin Thicke might indeed need to reach at least 280m impressions on Mediabase which would mean that he has to surpass WBT by a LARGE margin.. which I don't think is possible.

Sure, BL will reach 250m on mediabase for sure now, but if ONE format (Rhythmic or POP) starts decreasing, he has no chance whatsoever to take the BDS record. BL is surely peaking in the next 7 days on Rhythmic and POP in the US.

Rhythmic doesn't let go of its #1 song too easily. Just look at kworb's website for radio updates and see how long Diamonds was up there.

ETA: Here it is: Diamonds was #1 for 68 days (almost 10 weeks) from 11/19/2012 to 01/25/2013


It's also only on its 9th week on Pop Songs, and the average life of a #1 song is usually around 25 weeks (when it goes recurrent) so it will be in the chart long enough for AC (the only late format) to catch up.

The difference between Blurred Lines and We Belong Together is the tremendous HAC support the former is getting. WBT stalled outside the Top 20 forever if I recall correctly. It wasn't until it peaked on all its big formats that it reached its peak of #16. Blurred Lines looks to be hitting #1 on Pop, Rhythmic, Hot AC, Urban, and Urban AC simultaneously, which is completely unheard of, even considering Mimi's impressive record.
