Well, I notice my iconic multi posts have caught on and I was going to leave the game while on top and drop the mic while it was still smokin'
But you all have given my some good material.
I MUST GO IN AND LET HAVE ON DAT AZZ. AND go...

Um, she survived 2004-2007...she'd still have some fans but others will righfully jump ship. WE can only allow one of those

The lies. GTFOH.
Toxic owns souls. Do Somethin is at the bottom of my sole. There's a difference.
How dare you? For that:

And the video >>>>> Probably one of her best looks and she was just so fierce and hot! The pink hummer, the Love Boat T-Shirt, the ripped pants, and the Hello Kitty Accessory, and, of course, the first and last time we got a glimpse of Mona Lisa in all her glory.
Stop trying to make DS. It's not going to happen.LOL
I don't get how you Britney fans don't see what DS symbolizes. This was at a time where she was burnt out and in rebellion mode. At least My prerogative was sexy.
DS was literally a spoof video and she was declaring having no f's to give in that video. DIdn't even to crunches beforehand. To be honest, if there was a video that I think she was "turnt up" on this would be it.
I'm glad it exists as it's a chapter in her videography but no at people praising this song like it's Toxic...it's not even me against good music level.

Tell the truth. Yes, do somethin is like a joke to me.
Maybe I'm just still pressed at how I just begun was not released because of this basic, 1-2 buckle my shoe, generic mess.
The fact that the flop chucky movie at the time had I just begun having my fun in the background, the fact that I just begun having my fun debuted at #2 on the first official digital chart of all time on Billboard, the fact that it's 1 minute exposure in Bridesmaid shts on DS entire existence...and I just begun is a better song too.

Britney would have sold 20 million albums if she released Overprotected as the 1st single.
And then Toxic 1st single for ITZ.
Little decisions, huge differences.
Your last two statements are true but the first one is a hot azz mess.
Slave for you was pivotal and instrumental in transitioning her career into adulthood.
Overprotected was the third single and rightfully so.
She needed to shock us and cross boudaries while reinventing herself. Overprotected would never but Slave did. Then she needed to shut people up and tell them why she's doing it with Not a girl not yet a woman as she is trying to figure herself out by exploring.
I notice a little pop girl later used that same formula a year later. I wonder where the inspiration came from.
THEN overprotected is a cute little song that represents her life at the time and was relatable to her main audience going through teen angst and pre-rebellion feeling smothered.
The only thing that went wrong with the 'Britney' era was not releasing the boys original song and then Cinderella to close out the era.
Some secret tea: They were having issues with releasing the original because it took from two old school urban jams: Vanity 6 (nasty girl) and Mary Jane Girls (Boys)...people think Pharrell is innovative. Well, his beats sound like video games serving Zelda realness.
So they had to remix it with that cheapened video game sound to release it.
Britney era went well they should have released a 5th single.
PEOPLE are forgetting that the radio ban because she didn't chose Clear Channel is what made an album sell close to 5M US and 12M WW not sell over 6-7M (15M WW).
THe Britney era had her best single line up (release and order of release) to be honest.

Exactly, Slave for you would not have worked as a 2nd.3rd or 4th single.
Singles like Baby, Oops, slave, womanizer ONLY work as 1st singles.

I agree with you. Slave is not good as a first single. With the same video, looks, performances, Slave would still be as iconic as the way it is now no matter it was 3rd or 4th single.
Were you people on that good stuff last night. If there is any single that Britney fans should be united on as far as saying " " should have only been the first single it would be slave/oops/BOMT.
IS this the twilight zone? WTF?
Bie, I just think you are trolling the base now. No way would you say slave would have worked as a 3rd/4th single. Do you all understand how it works?
1st single needs to catch people's eye and get their attention. It needs to be catchy and off all singles could work as the "for the moment" novelty song as long as it brings people in.
The 2nd single is what sets the tone. It should be the song that help define the era more.
If the 2nd single does what it supposed to do then the 3rd should show another side.
The 4th single will be based on timing catering to the season (if released in the summer it will be a mindless catchy tune, if released in the fall it will be more midtempo and thought provoking etc.
Slave for you NEEDED to be released first to catch people's attention and say look I don't want to be seen as a little girl. Not a girl (which was the video filmed first but her team was smart enough NOT to release it first) set the tone to show this is her transition into adult hood/coming of age phase. Overprotected showed another emotion to the theme of the 2nd single and Boys was a mindless dance song for the summer.
Again, this is her best era as far as single order...they just needed to add Cinderella as a perfect transition to show that she will not comeback the same ever again.

1st single: Overprotected
2nd single: Not a girl, not yet a woman
3rd: Slave
1st and 2nd: she asked people not to care much about her, not to tell her what to do, not to tell her what is right/wrong, to let her do what she wants. Then people let her do what she wanna do that is the time for 3rd single: Slave.
Aside from these three songs, nothing left on Britney album deserved to be a single.
The lies. Bie, that's not how the entertainment game is played. Especially as a pop artist.
You shock and catch their eye: Oh, Britney is no longer just looking sexy but she is singing sexually and the song for the first time matched the sexy image.
BOMT=bubblegum pop girl on camera/jailbait on magazines
OIDIA=Good girl with a wink
Britney=coming of age and ready and open to stop the tease and show you she is ready to play hence Slave for you. A NECESSARY FIRST SINGLE. You get boys drooling, girls wanting to be you and girls hating because they really want to be you but don't want to admit it and parents outraged and people sparking controversy.
It is THEN that you come out with Not a girl to explain that you are transitioning from girl to woman and...wait for it curious to explore. Not a girl stated this in a mature adult way
Then you show the underbelly of teen angst and aggravation hence Overprotected. Let me be was not single material.
Then you put out a youth oriented, mindless pop song like Boys the orignal
Then you close with a message to show the full circle of the theme. Cinderella.

Exactly minus the miley part. Could you imagine if she didn't hit them with slave for you and waited until 3rd single in March where there was NOOOOO award show performance to use a platform or 4th single. The mess.
The first two singles are the most important singles to get right. After that you can play around.

Can't wait for this to be a top 10 hit so that the Army can drag the hive about Britney single handedly giving Beyonce another top 10 hit and reviving her billboard hot 100 game back. It's not true but it will be fun to see the meltdowns.

My doctrine: I'll give it to the Army for free.
The gyals are always PRESSED about Queen Britney opPRESSED, dePRESSED, rePRESSEd, supPRESSED. The epitome of pressed souls. I say let them be.
Britney got haters of all genders, species, shapes and sizes. Britney stay giving them girls stomach ulcers and epileptic seizures at her continued success. The thirst, the hunger, the struggle, the desperation, the deprivation is real. The lessers shall seethe, foam, get treated, then accept and deal.
Britney got their minds and it's like a trap. They can't function without shading Britney...it's like their nourishment. Such a sad life to live. I can't dedicate that obsession and anger towards people because it's too much time to dedicate to the people you like/love.
Only a bad b!tch who just so happens to be the best selling female artist of our generation.

in the zone era:
Toxic should have been the first single but again it is the prime example of how a second single sets the tone and the 1st gets your attention to the new Britney at the moment.
That said,
Breathe on me/Early mornin'/Brave new girl

I got that boom boom has potential to become as successful as Toxic WW it's better than that Me Against Her

Get it right SLW28 Stop using my fake id information
Btch if any of you all praise anything (except outrageously bad) on In the zone you basically have me on your side.
In the zone era was perfection personified.
I was a sophomore in college and that was my college, experimental phase just like Britney.
I remember so many details it's ridiculous.
I remember when that bleep R Kelly tried to push her to have outrageously bad as the first single. I remember when Britney and team used the savvy to push for me against good music with Madonna as a great marketing tool. I remember when Me against good music flopped on radio and they were testing out Outrageously bad and I got that boom boom on urban radio and both getting around 100 spins or so and one week O was doing better than IGTBB and it switched.
I remember when her team was trying to cheapen her brand and use stunts/gimmicks a la cry me a river to get Everytime used first. I remember when Britney and team were adamant that Toxic MUST be released or she would stop promoting.
I remember when Toxic slayed everyone's soul. I remember the forum I belong to at the time having the nerve to compare Toxic to Crazy. She was high.
I remember IGTBB was rumored to be the 3rd single but they then chose Evertyime.
I remember when Ying yang twins themselves said that Britney wanted IGTBB to be 4th single but then R Kelly's btch azz threatened Jive and her team that it had to be released under contractual obligation.
I remember standing over the ledge ready...just kidding.
I remember seeing the basketball b girl britney stills from the shoot and it made me like Outrageously bad for one week but then I came to my senses.
That said, IGTBB will always slay souls. I loved the southern hip hop swag. I remember YY fans hating Britney's part but the Britney fans hating YYs part but liking the song somehow
Love the YY: I ain't met another young lady OUTDID HER YET.
The prophecy...seeing the future. 10 years later in 2013. Name a btch in the past 15 years that can sell around 100M albums and 75M+ singles before turning 32.
I'll wait
