Yh why not? WFL was massive but we know that people are craving for new music of Gaga so I wouldn't doubt that her first single could be bigger than WFL (maybe not state side but WW yh)
We Found Love was extremely left of center on radio at the time it was released. It was truly the first song from a female pop artist with an actual Electro House breakdown. It had few lyrics and a lot of instrumental, so yes it was a bit risky at the time. I remember people here saying it would flop because it is too dance for the US.
!
I remember everyone jumping on board with the song when it started smashing. Even some of the Navy members were doubtful.
WFL truly was a risk but again, since it's Rihanna, it must automatically be discredited on ATRL.

Only if by people you mean little monsters. Most of GP wants Gaga gone.
I swear Navy doesn't know what risky means. Today some of them called Umbrella risky, now WFL. What's next? Pon De Replay? How the **** WFL is risky the dance/house/dub-step music was popular when it was released?
Poker Face was/is bigger than any Rihanna song, so yeah.

Lol, QueenBee, Umbrella was indeed risky. Yes, it was a mega, super smash but it was still a new, different sound. (unlike other singles at the time)
Never said I a smash hit can't be a risk. The reason Umbrella was a big hit wasn't it was a risky single. It was just another cute love song featuring a famous rapper with a catchy chorus, which has been a dominant theme and sound since the beginning of pop history.
BTW was not designed for radio? Sorry, but pop artists who make dance pop music like this all want their songs on the radio, period. The delusions here.
It seems like so many stans want to run to iTunes charts to debate 2-3 year old songs. You guys do realize that iTunes singles sell for next to nothing and that Bad Romance, Poker Face and We Found Love have already made the vast majority of revenue that they're ever going to make, right? You're literally bickering over scraps.
Needless to say (but apparently is needed for so many stans), albums and tours gross much more than singles ever will. Take Gaga's tour gross over the past five years, which stands somewhere around $400M and divide that number by $1.29 and look at how many singles you would have to sell WW to even come close to that number.
So next time you want to talk about whose years-old single is selling better in Botwsana, Algeria or whatever such foolishness, think about the fact that Gaga grossed more money during her three-night stint in Japan for the BTWB (You know, the tour for her flop album) than most decent hits will gross in iTunes sales in their lifetime.
And this is not even bringing up TTT's album sales.
