Blackout was called the most influential pop album of the last 5 years at the time for a reason, Bie.
Whether you like it or not, it's easily her most 'game-changing' album.

Girl, Blackout was very popular because the sound of the album (Electropop) was already very popular at that time. Oh and I loved how Blackout was called the most influential album of the last 5 years by Rolling Stones but It didn't change anything since Justin Timeberlake, Black Eye Peas, ... even used that sound before her and they were very successful. So calling it her biggest game changing album is not acceptable
Anyway, I do drag Blackout here and there in this thread but in fact, I love that album. I don't hate it at all. I bop to some songs from that album everyday. The reason i drag it because you guys try to discredit OIDIA and ITZ from being her top 2 albums.
we r talkin bout music..... and baby one more time its not different from other records released in 1999
It wasn't, but its a game changer in that Britney a solo artist was basically utilizing music made for pop groups. Which is why Britney, was put in the forefront of that music scene.
BOMT remains her biggest game changer. Imagine if it never existed, imagine a world were Britney is somewhere in Louisiana serving burgers dreaming of being a popstar.
I do think BOMT was one of the biggest game changers in modern pop history.
Britney is a game changer, a trend setter. Among the pop girls she's really the girl who really set standards and the others follow. It's sad that most people wont agree with this fact. In time, she will get all the credit she deserves. The grammy snobs, the dismissal of her music all of them will fall into place one day.

Monkey Business and Future Sex/Love Sounds were more Hip-Hop than Electro. If an album in 2006 is to be considered the game changer it would be Nelly Furtado's Loose NOT Future Sex Love Sounds and obviously not Monkey Business. Then Hilary's Dignity came but honestly it can't be credited anything because eventhough it's full-on electropop it wasn't that successful.
Loose-Blackout-Rihanna-Lady Gaga
Of course before all of this we had Confessions on a Dancefloor by Madonna but again before that we had In the Zone. It all traces back to something older but since Electropop boomed during 2007, the credit goes to Blackout but Loose can also be considered THE album that paved way for other pop stars to follow suit. Loose was in a way a varied album but had majority of the album electronic music. Blackout was the first commercially successful full pledged electropop album during that time. Don't call it a flop because 3 million copies is 3 million copies sold with Gimme More and Piece of Me being huge international hits. The right material at the right time. Britney did it and she deserves to be credited.
If any albums of hers has been discredited it's 'Blackout' - her only album not to go to #1.
Black Eyed Peas never used that sound Most of Blackout was recorded throughout 2006, before the sound even became so popular, so Britney instinctively knew what she was doing, just a shame it didn't get released earlier because of how messy her life was at the time. The only 'similar' albums that have been released before that was Futuresex/Lovesounds and Loose.
Even Madonna went into the studio and said she wanted her album to sound like 'Blackout'. OIDIA is a cute album, but also (imo) very predictable and not so much different from her first. With all the success it's gotten, there is no way one can really 'discredit' it whether they like it or not. And ITZ remains one of fan favourites, so I don't see your point.

I didn't say JT or BEPs changed the game with their albums. I was just trying to say that They even used the sound before and they were very successful.

1. We all knew Blackout was a No.1 album but **** happened
2. Madonna queen of pop wanted her album to sound like Blackout but it doesn't make Blackout Britney's best album. Rihanna, Beyonce, Avril Lavinge ... said they loved Blackout a lot but none of them even used the sound for their albums after Blackout.
3. I actually think OIDIA was very predictable too but it doesn't even make any sense. It's still her best album.
Haters and non fans know this album. They probably can name some songs from that Album. I'm not sure if they can name three songs from blackout
OIDIA album is memorable/iconic. It's vocally and lyrically the best. It's one of Britney only two classic albums alongside BOMT.
To be honest as of 2013 "Blackout" is her most remembered, discussed, constantly talked about album by most fans, producers, critics, at forums, and everywhere. After 6 years of release it remains as an album that many people constantly talk about, and the "Rock and roll hall of fame" chose "Blackout" as Britney's representative album on their library instead of other of her albums like "BOMT", "OIDIA" or "ITZ"
And seriously stop trashing "Blackout" here we are Britney stans and we appreciate all of her albums,, I could have a least favorite but I haven't trashed a Britney album in my life. Have some respect for her career and for her fans that do like "Blackout".

Who called "Blackout" a flop? ,
It just sold weak and average but not a flop for sure, specially considering the distracting controversy Britney was causing.
And not to mention the amount of impact and cult following it had over the years, which can also be called success.
