The only Taylor songs to make me cry were Ronan, Last Kiss, Didn't They and All too well

I don't think EHC's chances are great. It's hook is non-existent, Ed is a step above a non factor in the US, 22 didn't exactly create momentum for it, there was a large space between 22 and EHC anyway, the music video came out a while ago, so no promotion there, there's no promotional opportunities until late August pretty much, it's not exactly summery, and it's just a basic love song.
But hey, maybe it smashing just to bother some of us

Good for you, Rip. I avoid this song (except for the outro) as much as possible. The plane would've crashed if this borefest was ever played in it. Thank God you're safe.

I see. I actually believe any track that is not akin to her typical country-pop crossover has a better chance of performing well on pop than "Red." Unfortunately, I don't think Everything Has Changed can do anything without some type of mix. It just doesn't fit on radio.

I dunno about the singles stuff, but I know I want I Almost Did (Make A Good Song, But I Failed So I'll Release It As A Single And Let Nicki Feature On It) to remain an album track...or maybe even cut out of the album in new editions.

It was a tough ride, thank you boodytay and I pray for those who may fall asleep driving when this comes on the radio.

Yes, may God protect them from the blandness of this thing and of I Almost Died too if they ever play it for some reason.

I Almost Do is more heartfelt than Red.

It's more heartfelt yes, but it ultimately ends up too bland imo.

Loving him was like
Driving a new Maserati
Down a dead end street
Faster than the wind
Passionate as sin
Ending so suddenly
Loving him was like
Trying to change your mind once you're already flying
Through the free fall
Like the colors in autumn so bright
Just before they loose it all...
Remembering him comes in flashbacks
And echoes
Tell myself it's time now
Gotta let go
But moving on from him
Is impossible
When I still see it all in my head
In burning red
If you ask me the lyrics (especially first verse and bridge) are on par or even better than most her songs, I'd even consider it top 5 of the albums best.
I think the use of the colors corilating with emotions was a pretty creative idea. Not to mention the melody, especially in the first verse.the line about the Maserati and passionate as sin just flows so fluidly, it's songwriting genius that she shows on many songs and this as well.

The analogies are horrendous. It's like she was trying too hard to have a song where the lyrics correlate with different colors. The song is catchy as hell, but mainly because of the electronics used on the word red. With the exception of the bridge, which is a masterpiece.
As for the production...... It's generic.
Sounds like every other song on country radio (aside from the bridge) it's not original, like the Taylor that always stood out before.
And the crossword line, lets.... Not....
Some of the lyrics are great, they really are, but the production kills them. If Red had a less generic feel to it, it would be on par with Love Story
My opinions though, I know that you love the song, so I was less harsh
But, to each his own.
I still respect your opinion though

well all i want this era is for her & her team to take risk & chances in regardsof dropping singles.
i mean like i want them to release songs that are not "radio friendly" this time. ie. ATW, HG, Treacherous, Stay Stay Stay, State of Grace
i know it wouldn't smash hard but people will take her & her craft seriously. & that's good for longevity tbh

Ugh Grammys At Home is my favorite bonus track, aside from SOG acoustic that is.
Grammys At Home is not that bad of a song, it's kind of like the "Superman" on the RED album.
I love the melody to GAH and the bridge " call a cab, lose my number your about to lose your girl" EPIC

I always get excited when I hear " all my walls, stood tall painted blue, and ill take em down take em down and open up the door for you" maybe it's because I actually like Ed and some of his music(not all of it).
But yes, the production is amazing. If only the song had better lyrics, it would be phenomenol. Which is why I say that EHC is a better song. The production is spot on, the lyrics are bad. For Red the production is generic, and the lyrics (for the most part) are bad too

Reds production is pretty flawless though, the echoey banjo opening, the innovative pinch of studdering electric, her voice ooZing into that AMAZING guitar solo, when her voice goes higher (LOVING HIM WAS REEED) the guitar lick does as well, the slow down after that solo, then the breaking back into the rest of the chorus after that
It combines country, rock, pop and even electronic and it's genius and innovative and I worship Nathan for that.

I worship them all
We always talk about Wilson, Bhasker and Martin as the new producers but we always forget Dan Huff whom she NEEDS to work with again.
Chapman>>> Huff>>Bhasker>Wilson>>>>>>>>>>>the other
