I'm the darkest one in my entire family.
I only have about two living blood-relatives that are as dark as I am. My brother and father are Beyonce and Rihanna's color. My mother is lighter than Alicia Keys. I've always been the dark one and thankfully I've never had a problem with that. I've experienced a
BIT of colorist racism from Blacks
and non-Blacks; that's a given. But I am very proud of who I am and I'm more than comfortable with my skin color.
It is really saddening to watch producers set up these little kids with drawings of people of all different shades and them see them pick out the lightest one as the prettiest/smartest/coolest.
Whenever I have kids, I'll go out of my way to make sure that they think highly of themselves.
