4 had a lot of amazing sounds and a futuristic twist to it. But if you weren't a music person, it was just going to go over your head. A lot of the collaborations were with people that were either very underground or weren't necessarily from the pop world. I really think it was far ahead of its time and it'll be fully appreciated in the years to come.

What are you doing?
4's 3 collaborations....
Andre 3000, Kanye and J.Cole?

How? When Single Ladies is a much more easier record on the ears, catchy hook etc. RTW was none of that, it wasn't a radio friendly record which was ruled by EDM, she went against what was on the pop chart. She knew it was different when she first heard the track, reason why she wanted it to be the first single, because it was different from what was on the radio. Anyone knows when you go against or try something different from the normal (EDM at the time) it's a chance it might not work, that's the RISK you take. Ex. now that EDM is not the force (normal) like it was 2 years ago, artists with EDM are having a hard time turning them into hit records.

She already explained in the "Year of 4" documentary that the 4 era was strictly about the music and she didn't go into it thinking about the chart success as she did with previous albums.
The lot of you are just talking out of your ass and trolling.
IDK why you made this thread. It was just asking for mess.

In a way, with this era, I feel like the Beyhive got a taste of their own medicine. They were making all these claims that Beyonce was going to be the top head bitch of the industry with this era and that she was going to slay the charts with "Round 4". Is funny how the way things work out sometimes....but anyways
It was the fact that she build a lot of hype for Run the World (Girls) and it turned out to be one of her worst songs to date. Despite all the promotion she put towards it. American Idol Premiere/Performance, Billboard Awards Performance ect. The song still managed to flop. What was even more upsetting was her follow up "Best Thing I never Had". At this point, people felt confused and everything for her seemed so underwhelming. At that point, it was her fanbase that was pushing her forward not the general public anymore.
Her album then leaked like a month before its release, exposing most of the songs on her album before it could be on the market. Once Best Thing I Never Had peaked, it seemed like her team wasn't sure what the next single would be. It seemed like she wasn't putting effort into her singles after "Best Thing I Never Had". I remember the stans being all disappointed about the lack of promotion, until she did the intimate shows. "Countdown was then released as the next single, but it once again, didn't live up to the hype and she faced controversy for copying another artist with the video.
She then randomly performed "Love on Top" at the VMA's, unveiling her pregnancy. While it did wonders for Love on Top, it backfired her in the end. I think her whole pregnancy ruined the campaign for the album, after that it seemed like the whole era was messy. The general public seemed more concerned about her pregnancy than her music. Her randomly dropping videos left and right and each song not getting proper treatment.
In the end, this era made Beyonce fans realize that their fav is just as capable of making mistakes and that she isn't some God like they portray her to be.
And then Rihanna happened

Ciara can't even get a RTW sized chart performance and her album won't even go gold.
Why are you here again?

With all the promo Beyonce had for Run The World, I"m sure Body Party would be Top 10 by now. But the fact is, you're bringing Ciara into this because you know that what I'm saying is correct and you're trying to get off topic to once again make your fav look superior.

This whole post is pointless. She remains Beyoncé. Nothing has changed even after her last album underperformed and sold almost 1.4 million in the US alone, and 3 million WW. In the US it sold more than both of Ciara's last efforts combined multiplied by 4.... So you REALLY need to have one of several _/ _/ _/

Sis can y'all tell me WHEN did Beyonce promoted 4 to DEATH?
We got like 6 performances of RTW which is the normality for a lead single and like 4-5 tv shows during the WHOLE summer to promote the album. I believe the last performance was Countdown.
And I mean, Countdown had that one performance, BTINH didn't have much, Love On Top had 1 at the VMAs.
Yes, Bey as EVERY artist wanted the successful album. But even though she didn't have singles entering the top 10 still 4 sold enough not to be labeled as flop (cause guys, you call flop everything that's not top 5 ) she had the critical acclaim so I definetely think she loves the album.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have done a tour based 60% on that.
Anyway quality wise 4 >>>>>>>>> the albums from all the pop gwerls of the last year. Enjoy your faves' (including mine) album aging critically while 4 stays unbothered.

Poor hive. Their downfall is almost too cute.
DEATH at the hive claiming that the "4" era wasn't about the single. We could all see the thirst in her trying to get a hit single. DEATH AGAIN at the hive claiming that the "4" era was ahead of it's time. Not one song on that album is ahead of it's time.
