Saw this on tumblr. A pic of Kelly on "Who Do You Think You Are?" I wonder when Kelly's episode will air?

Irvine makes me sad and kind of confused. It makes me wonder about some fundamental questions which usually makes me depressed.
But it's such a great song. When I first heard My December, I didn't like it at all. It was just so heartbreaking and sad and the sadness kind of scared me. When I got older, I realized that they were real emotions, that's why it sounded the way it did.
I hated My December (aside from Never Again and Sober) when I first listened through it, but it wasn't until I dealt with depression from loneliness and a bunch of other crap that I began to love the album. I think it's just one of those albums that until you relate to it, it's hard to appreciate the artistry behind it.
Agreed. I've checked several so called "fan" forums of hers and all I see is hatred towards Kelly. There's hatred on the KCFC and people wish for TIU to flop so Kelly won't start a career in country. And then I go here and people complain because she doesn't want to promote the kind of irrelevant third single from her Greatest Hits compilation. People only see the negative.Enjoy the music, be thankful for Kelly's great personality - but don't whine if she doesn't have success. That's why I hate atrl sometimes. It's all about success. Such a delusion.
- Think about how many musicians are out there
- How many of those who have talent can actually live of gigs?
- How many of these get signed?
- How many of these get signed by a major label which can actually promote them?
- How many of them get signed by a major label, make it to the top, manage to stay relevant, become rich, win Grammys, get critical acclaim and eventually become a star like Kelly?
The probability is close to zero. You have a higher chance in winning the lottery than having a career like Kelly's. She is one of the most successful artists of the whole DECADE, in the U.S. she's even one of the most successful of ALL TIME. This reminds me of the greedy London brokers who complained that a bonus of $1M is not enough to live of.
THIS TBQFH.
You flops need to sit down and stop your bitching. The only stans that have a license to bitch the way this base has been and be nothing but negative nancy's is the X-Tina base. Their fav's single's and albums flop to the pits of hell and collect dust next to MDNA. They own the right to whine. Kelly's career will survive a flop single. It has before and it will again. Bye.

The real problem of Flop December is not how people can relate to it but the awful production. Almost every song on it sounds like a demo song and Kelly's voice sounds flawed on that album. The whole album just sounds like an album which was written by an amateur songwriter and Kelly was really an amateur at that time. She was imprudent and it spoiled her career.
The fact is, without My December, we probably wouldn't have Kelly around at all (career wise). And I can deal with the production since the key part is my relating to the lyrics and her vocals emotively empowering them. Is it weird that I can enjoy MD without getting depressed? I can listen to it thoroughly in any mood (the only songs I despise is Never Again and One Minute).

After MD, Kelly scored two of her three Hot 100 #1's, scored the biggest selling Country collab of all time, won another big Grammy, was nominated in two other major categories, had a Platinum selling album, sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl, sang for the President, etc. etc. etc. How exactly did MD spoil her career? Where is the ****ing logic? This is what I mean about some of you here not seeing even a TINY bit of the big picture.

I don't think so. I can listen to Never Again, Chivas and Sober when I'm in really good moods. Chivas, in my opinion, is actually Kelly's funniest song. I can also listen to Maybe and Be Still in a good mood. I just think it's the songs like Irvine, How I Feel, and Haunted that make it a VERY dark album. It's deep as a whole album, but not all the songs are depressing. Sober is very uplifting for instance.

MD definitely spoiled her career and relavancy. And things you said have nothing to do with how MD spoiled her career. They are just wonders Stronger did. Both 3rd and 4th era could've been much bigger without MD if they were proper.

you write a whole lot of sh*t for someone who barely writes anything at all. please enlighten us on how the production is is "awful" & why every song is demo worthy. Without that album as someone has said, Kelly wouldn't be where she is today & the fanbase that follow her
eta: thanks n&s, Im looking forward to her show & hearing the heritage story. hopefully she's one of the first shown

I don't know if I'd describe Sober as uplifting, that'd imply uptempo. It's more of a haunting inspiring, maybe?

I'll just add something before I skip onto another topic: I don't know why you're blaming MD for all the issues you perceive to be Kelly's problems. She's made it clear that she isn't in it for the pressures of the typical popstar, especially when you consider what Breakaway did to her (BTHE and Never Again telling parts of her breakdown, remember?). And MD also had been sabotaged to a large degree by Clive, so it wasn't exactly going to get that amazing radio support and promos that would've given the era at least 4 successful singles.
Lastly, MD was directly proportional to Kelly needing it as a therapeutic means of expressing her pain and sadness; and it also is her most emotionally artistic gem in her discography.
I get it. Kelly's GH hasn't been the best, but the fact is, it did well enough considering that most GHs are made to sell over the long term (P!nk being the exception of selling better than average) And at the end of the day, Kelly's happy and her career has lasted 10 years even with the screw ups in AIEW and MD. That says a lot about her relevance and getting to know Kelly as a stan, I much rather have it this way (flawed eras and all) with her happy and a career that is there for her (country or otherwise).
Also, Kelly is really well-respected in the industry and well liked by the general public (take a look at her performances at the AMAs 2012, Grammys this year, Inauguration, MMVAs (from both 09 and last year) hell, even her country award show appearances). She's proven she didn't have to be a big pop star like Rihanna or Britney Spears to be successful (one era was great however).
Back off, lezzie. He's my scissor sister. We do it to Dark Side.

Anyone? He's really working with Kelly for 10 years?! I thought she hired him after Breakaway so that she could do some stuff that flops.
Also
Demi still sucks though.

^ Exactly. I mean we see how the other big pop girls are getting in all the tabloids and TMZ, and sure it's good exposure, but that only leads to many people hating them.
Recently Kelly was voted #1 in AMAZEPOP's Top 50 Pop stars in the world! (She beat out Adele, P!nk, Bieber, Rihanna, Britney, Demi, so many) And the writers made a very good case that while she doesn't get the exposure she deserves, she's not in the tabloids, and her songs don't chart as high (they made a good example with CMB peaking outside the UK top 40 ), everyone can relate to her, and in the 10 years of her career, everyone has loved one or two KC songs.
