It's Lady Gaga. They'd fall over themselves to give her a performance slot. Not only because of who she is, but because she's ratings gold and they can capitalise on her comeback hype.
At the end of the day, MTV are a TV channel who won't care about anything bar getting viewers because it reinforces their brand and gains revenue through sponsors/advertising. Particularly after last years ratings low, they'll be desperate to book big names.
Her team was probably one of the first they contacted, especially after their tweeting last year.
I'm not sure.
