I have to agree. True friendship and "fanship" is being honest and real. If you swallow everything they do without arguing about it with them, you're not a true friend.
Yes, all the negativity is tiring but come on, let's not act like what Disco said was negative. She's right, Taylor's current direction is the worst thing she could have done. Yes, she's very successful right now, she's sexy, she's on the headlines, she's becoming more famous internationally, but does that mean it's better? No.
Taylor is uncomfortable, she doesn't feel like herself, she doesn't act like herself. Changing her whole persona and looks just because of 3 songs is just
dumb.
You may be confused because I love the Max Martin tracks, well, I DO. And a lot. But does that mean that Taylor should have done them now? No.
She was finally getting there, with Safe & Sound, all those real music fans were
shocked, they all went back and visited her albums and acknowledged the brilliance in her music and why she stood out.
By working with Max Martin and becoming a Pop girl, the ground that she built all those years first cracked... and if she does nothing about it, it's going to keep on cracking until it eventually breaks down.
We all fell in love with Taylor because she was different, she was the whole package; the songwriter, the singer, the instrumentalist, the manager, the publicist, the producer, the label.
Now she's following the trends which is a shame because she was heading to the right place. Now I don't even know what she's doing, she's releasing pure-pop singles yet the album is mostly Rock/Pop/Country, maybe the label thinks it's a way to trick people but it's not. It will piss off the fans that thought the album was full of pop jams, and the singles will piss off the fans that thought the album would be deep. She's trying to please everyone and that never ends well.
We all still LOVE Taylor to death, and as much as before but that does not mean that we have to support each and every one of her choices, she's messing with her career and her career has so much potential, if we agreed and no one tried to react, she's only going to continue on making the same mistakes over and over again.
