Marina and the Diamonds' Live Broadcast
Starting a half hour ago, singer Marina and the Diamonds held a live broadcast where she read various fanmail she had gotten, and answered questions live. Fans were allowed to ask questions in the actual broadcast that Marina would answer. The broadcast went on for about 25 minutes. She showed up on the broadcast with her natural brown hair, dressed in a blue t-shirt and slacks, with a brown, fur-trimmed jacket over. The broadcast had apparently gone on for a while on the blank room, as Marina had set it up just before she left for recording in the studio once again, and the actual answering of questions & letter reading began once she arrived.
Highlights of the broadcast:
Marina: Hi, guys!
Anonymous guest: Why are you and Luke dating?
Marina: Uh, ooh... Uhm... That's kind of a silly question. I date who I'd like... That's kind of the whole point of dating, is it not? He's a sweet guy, and that's all there really is to that.
Anonymous guest: Is it the sex?
Marina: ... Any other questions?
Guest: SweetHeartHARD: Are you recording a full album after this EP?
Marina: In a way, yes. I haven't really been recording for a full album specifically, but I've just been working on new music in general. I can't really say a lot about it because I don't want to spoil it; I've barely even begun actually recording it... It's not really "official", and it's far from a real release. I don't know when I'll be able to actually get it done, but I'm really excited for it. Producers include Luke, of course, William Orbit, Diplo, and The Knife!
Guest: Broken: When can we expect new music, other than the EP?
Marina: Like I just said, I'm not really sure when anything can happen. I've just been recording like a madwoman lately, and I'm sure you'll be happy and agree that it was worth the wait whenever I can release anything after this upcoming EP.
Anonymous guest: What inspired you to make music, and what are your two singles about?
Marina: When I was back in highschool, I was told that I had a good voice when I would just sing in my spare time. I spent a lot of time back then writing songs on my own, one of them is called "I'm Sorry" which I've just recently begun recording, and then recently, I got picked up by this label when they saw some songs I had uploaded to my MySpace, and so I just began releasing... There was no one inspiration, it was just the fact that I could, I guess, he he. Also, "Needles and Pins" is about this man... that never really knew what he was doing with himself. He would sometimes pretend to like me, and then would just shun me at random times, and I never really felt like he could pay attention to me. That sounds kind of bad, I guess, but that's how I felt... "Holy Woman" is about just the end of a relationship in general, but not just any one... I wanted to let go romantically, but hold on sexually, and so that's what I was trying to describe. It's one metaphor for the end of a romantic relationship, describing it as the actual apocalypse.
Anonymous guest: How many songs have you written recently for this upcoming music you want to release, and how many songs have you begun to record for it?
Marina: Uhm... I've written upwards of thirty songs... I don't think all of them are going to make it to one album or another. If I finally get to releasing a full album, I'll just throw away the songs that I didn't record, because I think it's kind of lazy to use old work as part of a new album. I've only recorded around ten-ish... None of them are completely done, I mean... It takes time, ha ha.
Anonymous guest: Do you plan on releasing a full album, then?
Marina: I do plan on it. I just don't know how much time it's going to take to actually release any. It was either wait a long time after releasing a couple singles and just release a full album when I'm done, or just release a couple singles, release the EP that's coming out in 2 days, then wait a little bit more for a full album. 'Shallow & Alone' is mostly just to tide you guys over until I can actually release a full album.
Anonymous guest: Do you love your fans? And do you think you can meet us all some day?
Marina: What kind of question is that? Of course I love you guys! You're my fans! How can I not love you? You're all wonderful enough to like me, I can only return the favor as much as possible... And any time someone that knows me for my music (Even though it's only just a single at this point) sees me, I try to spend time to talk to them! I just love all of you.
Anonymous guest: Does Luke have a big d**k?
Marina: Would you like me to end this right now?
Guest: LoveyDovey: What does it feel like to go #1 with a song, especially one that's your first song put out ever?
Marina: It feels wonderful. I'm really happy that it happened. However, I don't want my musical career to just be about getting hits... I really do want to put out music just so you guys can listen to it!
Those were the most memorable parts of the broadcast. It ended with Marina playing the "Needles and Pins" music video again. Be sure to buy "Needles and Pins" and "Holy Woman" on iTunes!
