It should be noted that Ash may only be reliving his memories of his Butterfree in the episode rather than actually meeting up with it. Nevertheless, this will be one of a few times since Bye Bye Butterfree that Ash's Butterfree has been acknowledged in the narrative (Ash remembered it in a couple of flashbacks before and it has appeared in one opening).

I really don't understand how they expect some Pokemon to have one of their types eradicated completely to be replaced with a "new" type. Do y'all think they might do that with the new 'Fairy' type? I see a lot of normal Pokemon becoming dual-typed with fairy, but I don't think any established Pokemon will have a type taken away for fairy to fit in there.

Just looking at the sound/light picture, and they have Whismur and Chatot as 'sound', completely getting rid of the 'normal' typing they have. I don't think Pokemon would ever do that.
