ARTPOP has been in the works since Born This Way was even on everyone's iPods (which shouldn't be so surprising as we know Gaga takes a lot of time with her albums). We know: for the Born This Way era, the plan was to keep the album a secret project for much longer than it was, but because Gaga was so excited and couldn't wait herself, she started revealing a lot of information at her shows, causing an unbearable amount of hype. This time, Gaga's doing what she should have done two years ago - say nothing until weeks leading up to the release, and on name and anticipation alone, release new material.
Before Troy, Gaga and Joe mentioned a Q4 / August release, Chris had already mentioned that the project had a rough release schedule of August-September, and he wrote an article about his meeting with Gaga earlier this year. At this point, everyone had summer in mind, but unfortunately Gaga then had surgery, and no one knew what was going to happen next. A couple of months later, Gaga is walking again and we have been told that everything is back on schedule. Gaga will be able to start moving vigorously in a few weeks, and as everyone should have in mind by now, she'll perform at the VMAs.. but all we're waiting for is an announcement. All we can speculate at this time is that a single is coming in late July - early August.
