Erm... How does Radioactive having elements of dub step make it not alternative?
And not only that, but Thrift Shop is listed as alternative hip-hop.
Both songs received great airplay on alternative radio, with Radioactive having been the number one song on the format for the past 12 weeks.
Alternative is described as a style of music that is "built on distorted guitars and rooted in generational discontent." I'd say both would definitely apply to Radioactive, and the last one applies to TS.
Elements of music are not wholly exclusive to one particular genre
