It is mainly pop but if you can't see it has R&B influence
Her recent songs do have slight "influences" but she hasn't done an R&B song since Thankful. I still wouldn't call MKIA an R&B song but let's keep our fingers crossed for the Miguel collab

I agree with that. I guess you guys were taking the R&B part too literal. Most songs have certain influences. I was saying that none of her singles since "All I Ever Wanted" (or AG if you don't count AIEW) even contain Rock influence. They are much more dance influenced. She kind of took the whole rock part out.
To say that Kelly hasn't changed her sounds or hasn't taken risks in her career is a invalid statement. The entire My December era was a different sound and a huge risk for her career. Singles like Never Again, Mr.Know It All & Catch My Breath are very different from her entire catalog.
And Kelly her sound has changed. Her debut was R&B, Breakaway was pop/rock, My December was much more rock than pop and All I Ever Wanted was pure pop candy. And every album has a different feel to it and sound different sonically. However her singles tend to have a similar theme and feel to it. The majority have this big catchy oomp in the chorus, which makes it feel like we have heard the song from Kelly before.
The thing with Kelly is that she needs to fade away from the boy bashing songs and her empowerment anthems and try something different. And she is trying obviously. All the leaks were living proof of that and the fact that she asked so many artists to collaborate with her. Songs like Catch My Breath and Don't Rush give me so much hope for the 6th album because they are a breath of fresh air, not only for radio, but also for Kelly as a artist. I have faith that Kelly will continue to grow and that her upcoming album will be a bigger success than Stronger. I'm also very excited that she might be working with Miguel, because he can open the R&B and Rhythmic world for her, not to mention Kelly will sound amazing on a R&B track, especially the type that Miguel produces. Even if PLU flops, which I honestly doubt, Kelly will continue being successful and have artistic growth and I'm very excited for her upcoming material.

People at KCE were talking a while back that clive davis has a lot of inside people at KIIS and that they sided with him in 2007 and sabotaged Kelly since then. I feel like they only add her songs if they are forced to when it's a humongous hit as Stronger. They never added Already Gone which was a huge pop hit and in my opinion the biggest hit of the AIEW era.
And enough with the nonsense that pop music doesn't or isn't supporting Kelly anymore. Kelly had a #1 hit just last year and MKIA, CMB and Dark Side all went top 20. Not every song of her will go top 10 or will become a huge hit. It's normal. Especially if the songs aren't that radio candy like each of Rihanna's singles that was produced and written by the best of the best. Kelly refuses to go along with the formula. We all know that if Kelly wanted hit after hit she would have them. She knows how this industry works. But she isn't afraid to make risks. Another great example is pop princess Britney Spears. Did you know that Britney failed to reach top 20 on pop from 2000 to 2003?
Stronger #14
Don't let me be the last to know #36
I'm a slave 4 U #18
I'm not a girl, not yet a woman #21
Overprotected #34
Boys #32
Me against the music (w/ Madonna) #11
Kelly never had a larger gap than two songs not able to reach the top 10 on the pop chart. Out of the 17 pop singles, Kelly had:
5 #1 hits
11 Top 10 hits
15 Top 20 hits
Never Again & Trouble With Love were the only songs not able to reach top 20. Not counting Sober and AIEW because they didn't get single treatment. But even if you count them, the statics still would be amazing.
I know that it is frustrating that PLU isn't taking off instantly but let's wait off and see what happens. Even if it flops, there are a lot more singles to come. Kelly has proven she can at least have one hit per record which is a major accomplishment.
Wow.
Were you always this smart?

Let Me Down has been giving me life today.
Im praying PLU doesn't flop. How can she put a ton of money into the music video (compared to her others anyway), when she wont even promo the song.
What's happened with this base? Since when did everyone become so reasonable? I sure as hell hope that the PLU video will be out before Avril's. Won't stand waiting another two weeks

This.
I hope she is gonna release it the next week. It's almost the 4th week since the filming started.

Y'all have no idea how high I was while writing that
People Like Us is the biggest gainer on HAC today:
22 KELLY CLARKSON People Like Us 972 383 6.540
+81 Spins
+39 Bullet
+0.386 AI
+1 Position
KELLY CLARKSON – People Like Us: 8.959 (+0.503)
So here's the thing, I'm sure pop will start jumping on the train soon but PLU will peak a lot earlier on HAC then on Pop which will effect the overall airplay of the song. Although here's hoping that Pop & AC might start playing this song together although Pop & HAC is much stronger than Pop & AC.
Itunes: #279 (Was at #329 last night)
I believe that the song is going to blow op once the video is released (if it's indeed epic as Kelly stated). A SNL performance will do wonders for the song though.
And yes I agree with you about Pop jumping on the train later. It's kinda interesting to see Selena & avril's singles getting super high spin increases and AI on Pop, and People like us getting very little or sometimes none. I mean we can all agree, at least 80% of the current AI is from HAC (which explains why maybe in two days, the song will be Top 20 in that format)
