 Throughout her career, Gaga has pushed things "too far".
When the Paparazzi video came out, people were put off by the darker eccentricity.
When Bad Romance debuted, people were put off by her roaring vocals and weirder lyrics.
When Alejandro's video came out, people were put off by her going dark/gothic and provocative.
When she wore meat, people were put off by her nerve.
When BTW came out, people were put off by her being so gay.
etc.
At each stage, more bandwagoners jump ship because they can't handle how actually weird/different Gaga is. They prefer their quirky popstars to remain pretty and ultimately safe. They don't like being challenged in any way.
