in terms of Céline not being a legend as she 'hasn't contributed to the progression of music' or whatever, people will have different views of what a 'legend' is. why would a person abide only by that definition when the term is as vague (and open to interpretation) as a term can be?

I'm thinking that a lot of members (non-US users especially) will find Céline to be more memorable than Janet (not to say that Janet isn't a household name around the globe). this likely comes down to her global ubiquity during most members' childhoods, which, yes, was due to her phenomenal commercial success. that, however, is certainly reason enough for some to justifiably claim that she is a bigger legend, especially when they're not as familiar with Janet (and vice versa).
