I mean, we never really think much but when you consider she has 7* Grammys (the same amount as Madonna and Taylor Swift), a tally more than other legends' totals like Whitney Houston's and Janet Jackson's 6, or Mariah Carey's and Lady Gaga's 5 awards, or Legend X's 4... Rihanna will undoubtedly score more in the future and may attain a double digit amount of accolades from the Grammys.

Some of her other peers are snubbed year after year (Britney only has 1, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj have none, etc). All of this makes you realize the legendary feats and impact Rihanna has accomplished and established.

People dragged her for not being much of a songwriter, but it hasn't stopped the Academy from realizing her genius, distinctive voice and tone, and her impact in the music industry. So is Rihanna a "Grammy darling?"

I wouldn't say darling. I feel like they don't want to like her but her material and the GP support for her is tremendous. It would be sacrilege if the Grammys didn't acknowledge her talents.

You're mistaken. She has 3 awards as a lead act (Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for Umbrella, Best Dance Recording for Only Girl, and Best Short Form Music Video for We Found Love)

Not at all, because she has very few solo grammys. Also, even if were credit her for all 7 grammy's, for the amount of material she has released, that's still a lackluster number.

Maybe instead of listing how much others got you should have stated that Rihanna got most of hers only for being featured lol. On the other hand Beyonce and Adele are real Grammys darlings. Gaga isn't bad with her 5 Grammys with only 2 albums either, and she got all of hers for her own work.

Jay-Z is featured on "Umbrella though. Without that feature she would have not even been eligible for a "Rap/Sung" collaboration.

She is in no way a Grammy darling, everything previously stated in this thread are true. Beyonce, Taylor, Adele, and to an extent Lady Gaga are the true Grammy darlings. Rihanna is just so heavily supported and backed by the general public that the Grammy's pretty much have to acknowledge her in some way. But no she isn't a grammy darling in any form

But like I said, Katy Perry is also heavily backed by the GP and has had a lot of noms but hasn't won any, not even for the biggest era in pop music in the past 5 years

If the Grammys wanted to, they could just pay her dust, but they give her the accolades instead.
