it does not matter when TMH sold 4x what The wanted EP sold. most of 1D's singles if not all have gone platinum/gold after WMYB success. plus they are on a sold out Arena/Stadium tour

What are you even talking about? Those receipts are 100% accurate. If anything they are a bit low.




As to The Wanted.
Of course they marketed themselves that way, they simply failed at it.

Luckily they gave up on that route recently and decided that piggybacking off 1D's success through twitter fueds was the only way to stay in the news.

I don't even hate them I was just trying to make a point, still I know they have a following, they're bigger than The Wanted, and the stuff you guys are pointing out, that's out of the question but still they can't make a single as successful as 'What Makes You Beautiful' or bigger, same as The Wanted with 'Glad You Came'.

They don't promote in the US much at all. OWOA didn't get any promotion or radio play here and still went to #13. Kiss You had a performance on XF a month before it was released to radio and still went to #46. They promoted WMYB like crazy and that's when they were just breaking the US so everyone was intrigued.

If 1D's team is smart, they'll release their lead single from their 3rd album the same day as the video right at the height of their movie buzz along with a radio deal. They could easily go #1

1D has had TWO top 5 hits in the US and two platinum albums in the past year, and on top of that they're global. I'd say they're fine.

As an objective party who has enjoyed both groups on some level, I don't see how pulling massive teenybopper sales figures make any point in regard to the quality of the music any of these guys make. The Wanted's music >>> OD's music IMO because it comes across as less disposable and they are just sonically more interesting. But really, why these guys start fights with each other every few weeks I'll never understand. Neither group has proven themselves to be any kind of mainstay in the pop world as of now so the stans out there who have nothing better to do with their time should really evaluate the stock they put into stuff like this. Having been around for NSYNC/BSB and Britney/Xtina wars back when, it's really not worth the energy some of y'all expend sprinting in here to throw shade.
