The background looks the same cause it's the standard battle sequence in the new Pokémon gameplay. Cover up the battle sequences of the rest of the 3 starters and it will look the same.

Serebii.net also translated that Masuda and Smash are going to reveal new Pokémon...

Still, I don't understand the logic of revealing Sylveon on Smash when its pinkness is circling around the internet for the last 2 months.

I actually think that background is the standard background when revealing a new Pokemon for this generation...
Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin are also in identical fields...

Agreed, but I've not seen that person in this thread in quite some time (or on the forum anywhere, really). Maybe he just hangs out in the Gaga base. I'd search his posts, but that's disabled.

But the video is the EXACT SAME thing.

Froakie & friends didn't have it all slow like that. They had a fast battle scene. The background is standard and they all used it but that video is totally Sylveon.

He's not a regular in the base, I've never even seen him there tbh. Maybe you could ask the mods in HQ what's up and if they can send a message to the user?

I'll mention it in HQ. The OP definitely needs updating. I'd be happy to take over and give it a makeover (and keep it updated ofc) but I'm hardly the most senior in this thread. Let me make sure that the guy is actually inactive though.

It's entirely random. I know in BW2 there is a shiny charm thing (which boosts your chances at encountering shinies) but I don't think people have actually had consistent results with it. Most people either soft-reset in front of standing Pokemon (ie. pseudo-legendaries or legendaries) a ton of times to get one or they'll breed using the "Masuda" method. Basically what that means is that you get a foreign ditto—most likely a Japanese one from the GTS—and breed it with your American Pokemon. It has been proven that when you do this your chances of breeding a shiny is increased.

for me: Umbreon ( especialy the shiny ones ) for both i just love its looks and i think it's a really good pokemon ( well atleast as wall or annoyer)

But Swampert and Lucario come close
