Kelly grew up VERY poor. Shes said it multiple times.

Granted, having a lot of money does relieve you of a lot of issues that people who are less fortunate have to worry about. If Kelly gets sick, she can get the best health care possible and not worry about going into debt. Paying rent? Not an issue! Phone bill? ha!

I'm not saying she doesn't have problems. She does, but she also lacks a lot of problems that many people deal with on a daily basis. I love Kelly, and I love PLU, but I can easily see why someone would find the lyrics to be disingenuous.

She grew up poor. Both Breakaway and MD era were hard times for Kelly. People always say Kelly is fat, which makes her sooo annoyed. It's been a short time since she found happiness (Brandon)
