Still waiting for the answer to why I should respect a religion that doesn't respect me.

For my views on the subject (or rather, the subject this thread is discussing):
I don't care what anyone believes, I'm an atheist but I was once a Christian and that view only changed when I studied the subject thoroughly and came to my own personal conclusions with my own personal views on the world. When religion begins to affect others I have a problem with it. You want to be Muslim? Fine. However, if you rape a woman because you think the Quran allows it? **** you. You want to be Christian? Fine. However, if you attack a homosexual (to fit more recent events) because the Old Testament says Gay is wrong? **** you. You want to be an atheist? Fine. However, if you want to attack someone else because of their beliefs, ****. You.
This post might be a mess because I'm kinda sleepy

I'm saying this as someone who was raised Roman Catholic:
I am not religious, I never really was regardless of associating myself with Catholicism. I have no problem with anyone's beliefs, the only thing I dislike is when people try to discriminate against a certain group and then get mad because people don't "respect their beliefs" when their beliefs are contributing to putting other people down People say "not all ____ are homophobic, sexist, racists" but that's not the point?? The point is that as a whole (and because the person who is at the *top*) feels that way, it affects everything/everyone.

Hopefully it will be. We don't need religion anymore, science has taken its place.

As income rises, belief in God decreases. That explains why there are more believers in third world countries and less believers in highly developed countires proving what Jesus said true that, "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.." - Matthew 6:24

Straight from the Catholic Catechism. The Church teaches to accept everyone regardless of their sins because God is the only one who can judge; the Church shouldn't be held responsible for people acting out of their own bigotry and hatred.

I agree with this and very well said. The point i am making is that while the higher ups in religion who spread hate shouldn't lead to a generalization for those who do not feel the same way the pope does just cause they practice the same religion. You can have the same religion and not have the same views on the world.

The thing is: not all religion is how you view it.
Christianity is a religion of LOVE. There are many gay and gay-friendly Christians, Jews, etc. in this world.
There's no reason to think that God hates you. He made you just the way you are.

if Christianity is a religion of love, than why Christians hate homosexuals so much?

Cause some of them use it as a crutch to hide behind their hate, they think using religion gives them a better reason for their ignorance.

I think future generations are being more and more "whatever" about religions with every time.
