Rihanna is the closest that we have to her current level (singles wise).
TD was released almost 3 months after CG. And it took its time to take off (it wasn't a 1st week sucess like a normal pre-album single).
Her situation has changed.
I love it now that it isn't being shoved down my throat 24/7 by the radio
